MAIN USERNAME: Therix
Loyalist: DWMA/Death
Character Name: Therix [Last Name unrecorded]
Race: Other
Class: Meister
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Therix is taller than the average male, standing at five feet and ten inches tall. His height is such that while he is taller than average, he does not stand out in a crowd. His skin is lightly-tanned, becoming more pale around the hands. Wen he looks at someone they are qutie aware of it, due to his eyes being a piercing azure blue, positioned above cheekbones which are slightly high and thus giving his expressions a slight quality of nobility.
His build is not quite average, being more inclined to being slightly thnner than the norm, while muscles are toned but not extremely thick. His attire is casual, a grey hoodie with incomprehensible writings woven into the outer surface,, while dark blue jeans provide the lower half of his outfit. Behind his hoodie is a white shirt with a single red band running off-centre vertically on the front.
Hair, when it is seen (which is rare, because he rarely lowers his hood) is brown, and always kept in a tight ponytail. He rarely shows any expression asides from a lack of concern, often looking distant when not fighting and calm when he is. Only a level of pain, or crippling emotional damage can force him to show any real emotion.
Current partner: None, incompatible.
Abilities:
Support Ability name: Incompatible Wavelength
Type: Passive
Strength: Average
Keywords: Soul, resonance, team
Description: Therix's soul wavelength is incredibly strong, however an odd quirk within it means it cannot resonate with anyone else. For this reason he cannot resonate within a team, or have a weapon partner, or risk damage to either him or his teammates. The side-effect is that it grants him a mild resistance to soul wavelength attacks, such as Black*Star's Big Wave.
Ability Name: Consummate Light Shield
Type: Active
Strength: Inept
Keywords: Soul, weapon, energy, defence
Description: Therix alters his waveform extremely subtly, pulling the energy down the blade or thorugh his hands and out around him. It creates a shield of a foot in radius around him, built to absorb either energy from a physical attack or a soul wavelength attack. If he directs his strength one way, it will negate a physical strike, or another way, a soul strike. The penalty to it is that whichever energy type he choses to negate, his defence will be entirely useless against the other type. If he chooses to negate physical strikes, any soul charge that has gone into an attack will affect him, and vice versa. Depending on which shield he uses, he can negate either a weak physical or soul wavelength attack. (I say 'weak' because it's not possible to classify it without assigning numbers to attacks, values and the like. In terms of physical, I'd say it could stop the standard scythe swing from Maka, while it would soften the blow of a weak wavelength attack but about 25% from the original damage.)
Support Ability name: Wavelength Dissolution
Type: Passive
Strength: Average
Keywords: Soul, wavelength, weakening, debilitating.
Description: Wavelength Dissolution is another product of his Incompatible wavelength, and activates whenever he comes into contact with another being that has a wavelength. On contact, his wavelength will start to slowly weaken the wavelength of the other person. The process is slow, but overtime it will weaken their wavelength and thus any abilities powered by it. After about an hour, any one in prolonged contact wiill find their wavelength weakned by 5% of it's original strength.
Equipment
Miscellaneous gear:
White shirt, grey hoodie, blue jeans, silver pendant.
No minions or vehicles
Loyalty: Loyal to Shinigami (Death) and the DWMA. Loyal to friends.
Key attributes:
Non-combat strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Difficult to read: Unless he is deliberately showing emotion, it is very difficult to know what Therix is thinking. Not even people who know him for a long time can know his thoughts without lots of questions.
Wordsmith: Knows a lot about talking to people, so when he speaks, he can direct conversation towards a point, steer it away from one, or convince someone to do something they would otherwise not.
Intellectual: Naturally absorbs information of almost any kind, thus sometimes being able to provide solutions to problems that others may not have thought about.
Weaknesses:
Socially inept: Is not good at initialising conversation or talking to those of the opposite gender.
Lonely: Finds it very hard to connect with people beyond friends, often unable to understand their emotions, thus often coming across as distant or insensitive.
Distant: If not focussed on something, he will often drift off into daydreaming, not listening to conversation or missing details that he would normally pick up on.
Combat strengths/weaknesses
Strengths:
Agile/fast: Preferring speed over strength, Therix is a fast mover, preferring to not be there when an attack hits, rather than being able to take the damage. His heightened speed and agility allow him to traverse any sort of terrain with a modicum of ease, while also making him hard to corner.
Disconcerting: His calm, distant demeanour often serves to offset his enemies, making them think that there may be something that they have overlooked.
Strong skeleton: For some reason, Therix has a bone structure that is almost twice as strong as the normal skeleton. While there is no change in weight or muscle-mass, it means it is harder to break his bones.
Weaknesses:
Low physical strength: Because of a preference of speed over strength, his muscles are enough to wield his weapon effectively but not enough to be great weapons in their own right. He also cannot block attacks very well due to this reason.
Incompatible wavelength: Therix cannot reliably resonate with a weapon partner or a team, due to his soul wavelength. He is able to use a weapon partner or act within a team, but doing so starts to do damage to all souls that are connected. When weilding a weapon, it drains the soul of both the weapon and Therix from the moment they try to make contact as weapon and meister. As soon as they start fighting together the drain on their souls begin, and it gets progressively harder for Therix to swing the weapon during this time. They can fight together for up to a eight posts before the damage is signficiant enough to do any lasting damage. If they continue until past this point for even a couple of posts, Therix's soul is destroyed and he dies, while the weapon may suffer irrepairable damage to their soul wavelength, possibly meaning that afterwards they are unable to resonate with a partner. He is still unable to resonate with a team of other meisters.
Low endurance: Dislikes prolonged combat because if he keeps going for too long he begins to tire of using his weapon, his strength drained.
Low pain threshold: Because of his preference to avoid an attack, rather than block it, his resistanc to pain has not built up very well, thus while the damage he can take can vary, the amount of pain he feels will begin to affect him quickly.
Personality
Therix has a very jaded view of right and wrong, his life having made him consider the ramifications and intentions of everything before deciding whether something reall is the right thing to do. He is utterly incapable of doing something he consciously knows is wrong, refusing in every way he can think of.
Before he does something he will always think it through, trying to solve as many possibilities and flaws he can think of before he does it, though at times he has been prone to sudden impulses. When he has two choices which he cannot make, he will either fall back on one of these impulses, or turn to someone else he trusts for an answer.
When he is speaking to people, he finds it difficult to be heard to begin with, having to take time to worm his way into a conversation before making progress. When he is speaking, it is also very difficult to know whether or not he is telling the truth or lying, because unless he is trying deliberately, you cannot know what tone he is using. He speaks matter-of-factly,, as if describing something, but will avoid sounding patronising unless it is his intent. He is very fair in his judgement, appreciating other's views when he can, but is strongly opposed to discrimination, selfishness, and inflation of the ego.
He keeps to himself mostly, and can often be found reading, sleeping, or staring into the distance on a high place. He spends as much time as he can in contemplation, rarely speaking unless he actually has a point to make. He is extrmely insular, and even in classes will only answer questions put to him with terse, to the point answers.
When it comes to women, he is less than adept. He often finds himself at a loss for words if the conversation focusses on something about the two of them, and he can falter in almost anything if a girl he likes is around.
History
Therix knows very little about the first fourteen years of his life, in fact, he knows almost nothing at all. The first clear memory he has is of a nomad family, desert travellers who were themselves a quiet group who he knew he travelled with for a few months. He had believed them his family for a time, but when his personality and power became clear, they announced to him that he was not their child, He left them a week later with a few supplies, his morality giving him cause to hunt potential Kishin and witches. By the time he learnt of Death's academy he had already killed a score of Kishin eggs alone, and had gravely wounded a witch, though unable to kill her. He lacked a weapon for them, however, so could only leave them behind.
His lack of memory has caused him to take up his many moments of contemplation, struggling to discern his last from the grainy, incomplete memories he had. He believes that whatever he is, he did not come from this world, and has attributed this as a reason to his odd soul wavelength and skeleton. .
He came to the DWMA to see if the famed Grim Reaper himself could provide the answers, and indeed, Shinigami has shown a change in behaviour around him, referring to him instead as 'Rift', a nickname that no-one can seem to find a reason for.
(Stuck this at the bottom so if I end up re-acquiring it I don't have to retype it.)
Equipment Name: Quad-Scythe
Type: Weapon (bladed)
Strength: Average.
Description: The quad-scythe is a pole weapon, like any other scythe, but instead of a single curved blade, each end has a crescent-shaped blade afixed to it, thus having a blade protrude in both directions and both ends of the pole. The weapon is remarkably resilient, as much as some weapon partners, and can be used indefinitely. The most problematic point about the weapon is that because it is not a person, and thus cannot transform, must be carried everywhere on his back.
