MAIN USERNAME: Evangeline
LOYALIST / FREELANCER / ROLEPLAY-ONLY: Roleplay Only
CHARACTER NAME: Denise Carroll
RACE: Witch
CLASS:
ADVANCED CLASS: N/A
AGE: Eight years old
GENDER: Female
APPEARANCE:
Denise is a slight girl reaching only 3 feet 10. She weighs in at forty five pounds, a number that tends to vacillate due to her insistence on always carrying a backpack filled with stuffed animals. Her large brown eyes compete with an ever present smile for room on her pixie-like face. Her light pink hair is cut to chin-length save for a long pony tail that reaches down past her waist. An absolutely vital accessory that she cannot bear to be seen without is a red headband that is shaped like two cat ears and is decorated with a large bow.
The junior witch rarely strays from her go-to outfit: a red sundress with yet another over-sized bow cinched around her slim waist, and a pair of shorts that she keeps up with a large Hello Kitty belt. She fervently attempts to pay homage to Hello Kitty by not only wearing the likeness of her idol but also channeling the character's sweet innocence with an abundance of frills and bows that continues on even to the leg warmers she pairs with her tall white boots.
WITCH ANIMA: White bobtail cat/Explosives
MADNESS THEME: N/A
ABILITIES & EQUIPMENT:
ABILITIES:
ABILITY NAME: Tyke Bomb
TYPE: Active
STRENGTH: Weak
KEYWORDS: Offensive, flash/bang, non lethal, magic attack
DESCRIPTION: Denise's main form of attack is summoning magical bombs. The only iteration of this theme so far is creating mechanical wind-up toys shaped like Hello Kitty that are capable of walking up to five feet before detonating. However, because of her inexperience with utilizing magic, the toys can only walk in a straight line, and the explosives themselves are weakened flash/bangs that only emit bright light for 3 seconds and produce a cracking sound like a small bang-snap firecracker that may startle but are not strong enough to disorient. They are non-lethal and the outer shell of the toy remains intact during detonation, meaning most of the concussive force of an explosion is contained, and there is no shrapnel produced.
The maximum amount of these explosives that she can summon at any one time is five, and she can only use this ability three times per battle. This summoning ability takes one full post to conduct, and the toys themselves must take at least one post to travel after they are cast before detonating.
ABILITY NAME: Soul Protect
TYPE: Passive*
STRENGTH: Weak
KEYWORDS: soul camouflage, magic, spell, restricts magic use
DESCRIPTION:
The Soul Protect spell was developed by witch-kind to conceal themselves from human aggression, allowing them to work their wiles undetected. The spell itself restricts all other magic usage while it is active; aside from secondary means, a witch must first drop Soul Protect before she can defend herself or launch an attack, revealing themselves to anyone with Soul Perception nearby. It is a bit of an inconvenience, but such is the price of subtlety.
EQUIPMENT:
EQUIPMENT NAME: Hello Kitty backpack
TYPE:
STRENGTH: Weak
DESCRIPTION:
She always carries a large backpack shaped like Hello Kitty's head. It has only one large storage area that she uses to cram in stuffed animals.
VEHICLES:
VEHICLE NAME: Flying Broom
TYPE: Air
CLASS: Magic
PROTECTION: Weak
VEHICLE EQUIPMENT: n/a
DESCRIPTION:
A standard mode of transportation for most witches, the magic flying broom is not only an effective artifice but also indistinguishable in most cases from its mundane counterpart -- only witches can tell that there's magic sleeping within the wood and bristles. It flies decently fast, roughly the same speeds as a small car can drive, but in leaving the rider(s) exposed it can be a tactical liability to use in battle. Only a witch can make one of these actually fly.
LOYALTY: Although she is a witch, the issues that she cares about do not extend to the enmity that has existed between witchkind and humans. Although she is quick to spout such lessons such as "Humans are bad," Denise does not actually feel too strongly about it. Her allegiances are fluid, and shift towards whoever is currently most willing to humor her and meet her numerous demands. She continues to feel a natural affinity towards fellow witches, and may decry attempts to hurt them, but it does not extend towards hatred for humans.
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
Weaknesses:
Physical frailty
Low physical strength
Low endurance
PERSONALITY:
It could be said that Denise experiences emotions to the extreme. She is not merely "happy," she is gleeful to the point of forgetting all other things. Situations that others may find only slightly disappointing, she will loudly bawl and be inconsolable over. Anger, she demonstrates with a fury straight out of every parents' worst nightmare about children in the terrible twosome stage. Having always been coddled and spoiled, the witchling demonstrates a great degree of selfishness and greed; it always comes as a great offense to her whenever it is slightly implied that her wants are not the most important thing to tend to at the moment. Although she is eight years old, her emotional maturity and slight physical appearance may easily lead others to believe she is at least two years younger. No matter whether or not she actually is able to demonstrate basic mastery of maturity and self-control, one is quite safe in assuming that she isn't particularly wise beyond her years. Thankfully for the nerves of her caretakers, her default mood is a cheerful and bubbly one, though even her giggly air-headedness can easily wear at one's patience.
Her primary goal other than having every last trivial want fulfilled is to be "as cute and loved as Hello Kitty." Although she has spent the entirety of her life in the Witch Realm without once stepping out, she was introduced to the cartoon character by doting witches whose interactions with humans (conducted under the Soul Protect charm, naturally) required a basic familiarity with human pop culture. The well meaning big sister figures had chosen that particular figure since the girl's animal theme was same one that influenced Hello Kitty's design: the white bobtailed cat, and Denise has since eagerly embraced the association to the point where it has even affected the way her magical bombs manifest.
HISTORY:
Denise has remained in the Witch Realm for all of her life, she has been very sheltered and has never truly had to learn to become self-sufficient, which allowed her to become as immature and childish as she is. Having always operated under the assumption that a "big sister" will always be around to step in for her, she has only attempted a minimal amount of control over her already under-developed magical capabilities. Her only exposure with the human world has only been through information passed down to her by older witches, and at that many were those who refrained from having to go incognito among humans as much as possible.
She had always been perfectly content to remain in the Witch Realm, believing that the human world was too strange and unwelcome to bother exploring. As long as the "big sisters" were consistent with bringing back gifts of Hello Kitty merchandise, she found no reason to even think about leaving. However, after wiping away the tears when her last entreaty to the usual group of witches for more toys ended with a stern lecture to not always be hanging on to her elders for every last trivial wish, she formulated a plan. If they could no longer be relied upon for the toys and instead preferred her to become less needy, she would show them up by doing just that. The human world couldn't be all that dangerous if they went back and forth all the time without any repercussions that she knew of, so why couldn't she? The witchling timed her grand venture with the next witch who was casting a portal out into the human world, and had her magic broom at the ready to quickly zip out after her without their knowing. Denise managed to tumble out into the human realm just fine, though without any awareness of where she ended up, nor any exact plan of action other than "get some more Hello Kitty dolls."
Unfortunately for her, although she had been taught the Soul Protect charm, the young witch who never had any cause to apply her knowledge did just that: completely forget to hide her signature as she began to wander about the utterly foreign and confusing somewhere she was ejected into.
MORE INFO:
I do intend for her to be a very slow learner at magic, so that even if she goes under tutelage, her progress should be slow IC-wise.
