Now that was a response he wasn't really expecting. What did she mean it wasn't really her? From his understanding the progression and success of a meister-weapon team was fifty percent due to the weapon's ability as well. Sure the meister was the main one wielding and doing the battling, but doesn't the weapon have a few inner things to do with it? This was a concept that the meister still had to learn about though. It was one of the reasons why he couldn't wait to start his actual classes at the academy and find a partner for himself.
Now it seemed like it was his turn. The actual question was easy enough for him to answer. There was a bit more to it though as she continued. Did he choose to come here? Not necessarily. He was influenced heavily to come to Shibusen. Almost as if his parents made the choice for him and waited on him to realize or believe that it was what he wanted to. Even though he was pushed towards Shibusen for most of his life, he could still say whole-heartedly that he wanted to be a student of Shibusen. Whether or not he was cut out to be, is another question, but it was one he was intent on finding out on his own.
"Well, yes. I'm a student, a meister. I haven't started any of my classes yet, but I'm pretty excited," J.J set the ball down next to him and picked up the water bottle that he had brought over for himself. As he unscrewed the cap, he began to speak again, "I made the choice to come here. Both of my parents are meisters and they really influenced me, until I enrolled actually. I guess you could say the choice was already made for me, but either way, I'm here now." As he finished he raised the bottle to his lips and started to drink the beverage. He was surprised that the contents of the water bottle was still cool, but glad at the same time.
He drank until the bottle was half emptied and resealed the bottle. He held the water in his right hand and let his other hand drop to his side. "So Eva, what kind of weapon are you?" It was a bit interesting to him that he met two weapons in the same day, at the same place. He was a bit anxious to find out what kind of weapon she was.

"What kind of weapon, huh? Check it out, EAT means I finally got this stuff down solid," She switched the trash claw from her right hand to her left. A bright green light flashed over her right arm for just a moment, surrounding the limb as it seemed to disappear into a string of pure verdant energy. Just as quickly, steel materialized, starting from her shoulder and making its way down the rest of her arm. Eva tapped the plastic claw along the blade, tracing its distinctive curved edge, and then simply held it up for J.J. to see.
"I'm just a sword. A dadao to be specific, but it really just comes down to a boring sword. Sometimes I think my meister doesn't mind only because before me he was just using a metal rod, and anything's more exciting than that.
"If both your parents are meisters, and you say that it's like the choice was already made for you, I'm guessing you grew up listening to all kinds of stories about Shibusen? My mom and her side of the family used to share stories, but they never really lorded it over us that we were going to end up here one day. When I first transformed, I actually threw a fit for about a week because first of all I thought it'd be, you know, a cooler looking weapon. You keep hearing for as long as you remember about your family being weapons, and when it's your turn to see what you are, it ends up not even being that special looking." With that, she willed her sword arm back into its ordinary flesh-and-bone state. The girl shook her arm a few times for good measure.
"Second reason was that it just hit me that I was going to have to come here. Put my life on hold for four years to do all of this. It just feels kinda dumb to live a normal life for seventeen years, then out of nowhere have to do this thing that I've never been prepared for in my life. But you're a meister who chose to come here, or I guess sorta chose. It couldn't have been the same for you like it was for me. How do you feel to commit yourself to this? I don't really have a choice in the matter, I have to learn to control being a demon weapon somehow, so I guess the only choice after that was really to stay in NOT or to go into EAT."

J.J. watched the woman change her arm with a bit of amazement. He wasn't amazed by the fact that she could change her arm, but the wonder of what kind of weapon and what she would look like held his intrigue. As the light faded, the corners of Jin's mouth turned upwards into an anxious grin. A whistle left his lips as the woman's arm changed and she drew attention to the curve of the blade. He almost instantly became jealous of her meister. J.J. wasn't trained in wielding weapons and knew that he wouldn't have a chance if he had to.
Just a dadao? Once again, the athlete didn't understand why she thought that her weapon form was just something plain. The fact that she could turn into a weapon was interesting enough! At least, he thought so. Coming from a family of weapon, however, she probably didn't see it as amazing as he did. "I think it looks pretty cool. Swords with curves are awesome! I would say it's way better than being a straight broad sword." Of course, the dadao wasn't as elegant as a jian, but J.J. wasn't one that focused intensely on elegance.
"How do you feel to commit to this?"
Without a thought, J.J. started to respond. "I have no second thoughts," The meister started to smile and set his water bottle down. He replaced it with the basketball and started to dribble it again, "I may not have all of the stuff it takes to be a good meister, but hey. I'll just make the most of it. Besides, I guess those of us who choose to come here, try to help make it a bit easier on you guys who didn't have a choice. I mean, you did say that thanks to your meister you got to EAT quickly, right?"

"Well yeah, I guess that's a pretty good point. Eventually I just figured to myself, better a common weapon that's pretty hard to mess up on, or at least that's what I'm assuming anyways, to make it easier to find a partner." Her response was casual and somewhat ambivalent, as though his earnest compliments rolled off without too much impact. It certainly pleased her that someone was so determined to argue otherwise, though she couldn't act as though she had been meant to elicit such a reaction. There was quite a difference between crying to someone out of vanity for an obligatory confidence booster, and being given unsolicited praise. By now she had mostly gotten over her superficial fixation with her weapon form, but extra affirmation never hurt.
The girl regarded Jin with a curious look. "I haven't really thought of it in that way before." A small smile crept across her mouth as she looked off to the side, fondly regarding his very last statement. "Yeah, he's the one who really has the physical condition to last in battle. He even has some combat training and experience too, so it gave us that bit of an edge over all the new students that we arrived with. Well now that we're in EAT that means we're in the way bottom, again, but I'm pretty sure we won't just be benchwarmers. Like you said, you guys who chose to come here have this motivation that keep us other people going. I just want to be able to help my partner in any way possible, even if I've never even fought before. It's a really weird place to be when you're a weapon. You're both right in the middle of the fighting, and at the same time you're completely removed from it because you can only watch from you soul space."
"But your own weapon could tell you all about how anxious that feels when you start fighting together. What about you, Mr. Meister? You,have any kind of combat or weapon specializations? I'm betting it'll be something else from anything you've ever experienced when it hits you that what you're holding is a whole other person and can talk with you in the middle of fighting."
