Space... the Final Frontier, these are the voyages of the Federation Starship Valiant. Its mission is to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man has gone before!
Now that all that fun stuff is out of the way, I welcome you to the recruitment thread of Star Trek: Valiant. I have tried many times to get this Roleplay started on a number of different sites, and ever time it has crashed and burned. This time though I am not alone in my endeavor to provide an authentic Star Trek experience that we loving fans have been without on regular broadcast television (this is not a stab at the JJ Flick, I love it but I miss shows like TNG, Voyager, and yes even Enterprise). I will also be joined by our very own Nascent in helping to provide this experience! About the Roleplay:Star Trek Valiant is set after the events of Star Trek Voyager and Star Trek Nemesis in 2380 which is before the destruction of the Romulan Star Empire via the Supernova in 2387. The purpose of the roleplay is to have fun within the bounds of the Star Trek Universe and to emulate a Season of Star Trek. This means there will be "Episode Summarys" to give an outline as to what I'd like the "Episode" to be about. In other words, I want to make a new "series" and we'll be doing that with a series of Mini-RPs each with its own thread, title, and plot. This way if you aren't able to play or don't you don't have to worry about being left behind and each roleplay is self contained, unless its a two-parter of course. All episodes will be listed below in the Episodes section. Of course, the most important part of any Star Trek series is the ship. The vessel we'll be aboard is the USS Valiant NCC-74523, an Ambassador class vessel. She's an older ship but she'll get us through thick and thin, I'm sure of it. Rules:The rules of the roleplay follow the main rules of #2 - 5 of the forum. As well as the styles of Open and Hybrid. Which for convince sake I will link to the descriptions of those styles here. As this roleplay takes place aboard a Federation starship I will only allow member races of the Federation as playable. Unless you can give me a good in universe reason as to why say... a Klingon or a Ferengi would join Starfleet. All OOC comments/questions should go here as well. Profiles:Now unlike the main roleplay here on SoV I am not going to require large profiles with walls of text explaining ever minute detail of characters because I believe the Profile does not make the roleplay only the players. Below is a small Outline of what I require, you can add on but I expect to see everything in the order below (for sake of reviewing and accepting). I will be looking for a general knowledge of Star Trek. Name: Age: Species (or Race if you prefer): Rank: (Unless applying for First Officer, which is commander, Lieutenant Commander and below please) Position: Appearance: (Picture or Text is fine) Personality: Biography: That is all I require, if you want to add more that's fine. Also you do not have to make a character profile for this roleplay. If you really want to I won't object to it otherwise. If you don't know what all races are in the Federation here is a list of all the members. All the positions open are as followed: First Officer: Chief Medical Officer: Helmsman: Chief Science Officer: Chief Engineer: Counselor: When these positions fill and more are needed then we can come up with positions as needed. I will be taking the lead role of Captain as a way to both play and help run the roleplays. Episode:1- *To be announced*

Name: Stephen Rick Anderson Age: 43 Species: Human Rank: Captain Position: Captain of the USS Valiant Appearance: Personality: Over all he's a confident man, he has a lax attitude about how his crew operates under normal conditions, but at Yellow to Red alert he expects everyone to be ready to give or do their best. He's also been noted to be a rather friendly person. Biography: Anderson was born on June 9th, 2337 to two loving parents, Johnathon and Mellisa Anderson. Both of them owned a small Antiques shop in what was once called the city of Indianapolis. So as a child he was surrounded by all of these old, dated items that were merely a collectors item for someone who was interested in older styles. As the years went by Stephen had been educated by Federation schools, met other species, but was stuck working within his families business. He was beginning to tire of it all. He wanted more out of his life than what was around him the shop and home. He toiled over these feelings till he was finally an adult, his parents had never been in Starfleet, and through his life he'd always stare at pictures of old discoveries by many a Starfleet Captain such as Johnathan Archer, and the great Captain Kirk. The more he thought about their discoveries the more he realized what he wanted in life. The more he wanted to explore. He'd tell his parents he'd join Starfleet, and although they objected (due to their own fears of what was out their in space) they let him. In his academy years he spent his time studying many of the topics leading into piloting a ship. He'd decided if he wanted to explore he wanted to be behind the console setting the course for his captain. Sure if he was a science officer he could study and learn, but something about being the one maneuvering the ship... it held a great appeal to him. At the age of 24, in the year 2361 he'd graduate from the academy. His first assignment was the USS Coltrane, a simple Federation Freighter used to bring supplies to many of the colonies and to handle trade shipments. It would only be a year before he was reassigned to another ship. A Miranda class by the name of USS Raphael, where he was able to be a part of the Federations main goal, exploration. His service aboard the Coltrane lasted from 2362 to 2367, during the time he was promoted to Lieutenant and then reassigned to a new ship. The USS Valiant. *More to come*

[/u]: Jaren Albrun Age: 35 Species: BetazoidRank: Lieutenant Commander Position: Chief Tactical Appearance: Jaren, like most Betazoids, can easily be mistaken for a human at first glance. He keeps his black hair neat and trim to regulation standards and has a generally youthful, gentle look about him. He is certainly not the kind of person most would expect to be Chief of Security / Chief Tactical Officer aboard a starship and his disarming looks and mannerisms make him very easy to underestimate. Like all Betazoids he has black eyes; he is perpetually clean shaven and prefers to wear a dark blue uniform with a protective armor under-weave. Personality / Biography: Jaren is not your typical Betazoid. Formerly a science and logistics officer aboard the USS Graymalkin, Jaren was known by his crewmates to be a passive, easy-going individual with the typical knack for interpersonal skills possessed by most of his race. All that chanced with the Dominion occupation of Betazed; Jaren was on special leave visiting his family planet-side when the invasion began and was thereby trapped until the planet was at last liberated. Along with many of his people, Jaren faced a startling realization: it simply wasn't enough to be peaceable and understanding in a galaxy of ever-growing turmoil. Even when the war ended, Jaren's own internal "war" did not. He had witnessed the Jem'Hadar kill his younger sister for a breach of curfew as an "example", and the rage born within him in that moment did not cool when the Dominion was at last defeated. His hatred for the Dominion, especially the Jem'Hadar, is intense to the point of being unreasonable and even his own family now fears for his psychological well-being. Needing a means to vent his anger constructively, Jaren executed a career change after Betazed's liberation and moved into shipboard security and tactical operations. His once-open personality has dimmed slightly and he spends less time amongst his peers, steering particularly away from fellow telepaths who can feel the knot of anguish and rage eating away at him. Instead, Jaren has become actively engaged in a vigorous workout, combat training, and Vulcan-style meditation regiment that he created for himself, spending long hours in the holodeck fine-tuning his combat reflexes and tactical analytic skills. For a Betazoid, to be the least bit antisocial is considered the most grave of trouble signs... and Jaren is a deeply troubled man. Abilities: Being a Betazoid and a natural telepath, Jaren fills a unique niche as the ship's Chief of Security and Chief Tactical Officer. Though the peaceful and open nature of Betazoid culture doesn't easily endear their kind to martial pursuits, those who've faced a trained Betazoid fighter know better than to underestimate them. Reading an opponent's emotions and surface thoughts is enough for Jaren to quickly formulate what they're most likely to do; this makes him an uncanny shot with a phaser rifle and a natural tactician in ship-to-ship combat, so long as his opponent is one he can "read". The drawback to such talent comes in close combat, which was always Jaren's weakest area back in his Academy days... but not for lack of ability. Rather, because of his psychic inclinations, being within five or ten feet of an enemy causes empathic "feedback" -- Jaren cannot strike an opponent without feeling the blow himself. For this same reason he will generally recoil from the wounded, be they friend or foe, and dreads extended stays in Sick Bay.[/ul][/blockquote]
