(Due to the lack of activity of the previous two participants, this topic has been reposted and restarted. I will not participate after this post and you're free to come up with any details not mentioned in this post as long as it is within reason and fits the situation. Have fun) The Digital bean is a two story tech geek friendly coffee house. The first floor consists of the coffee shop part of the building as it includes a counter directly to the right of the entrance where you can get your coffee or rent a laptop (for 10 bucks an hour) to use as you hang out there. The seats are configured so that it's almost impossible not to mingle with the other customers, though there are some single seat recliners around for those who'd prefer to be left alone. There's a juke box near the back next to a small stage used for any poetry readings and karaoke. To the right of the entrance, near the back, is the staircase that leads to the second floor. First floor Courtesy of Interiors idea The second floor is a bit smaller. It consists of a hallway as soon as you walk upstairs with a few rooms to either side (10 total) with no doors. The first two rooms to both sides consist entirely of money changers , for more quarters, and two more coffee shop counters, albeit smaller. the next 4 rooms are entirely made up of arcade machines and a few crane machines/skill games for some techy prizes, such as Stacker. The final four rooms are entirely made up of tables and seats for tabletop gaming and card games. They're used daily but there are sometimes tournaments for big prizes. Second floor arcade roomFrom Craigs's Arcade Opening day the staff is friendly but busy. There is no uniform at The Digital Bean so all the staff members (15 total) wear whatever they please. The staff has already contacted Shibusen and there are strict No violence or harassment rules, so play nice.

While Rick wasn't really a fan of coffee shops, this was also a place with free Wi-Fi and an arcade. So it was no surprise that the Demon Chair decided to go. Dressed in a pair of black high-topped sneakers, a pair of blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and his gray and yellow baseball cap, the blue-haired teenager stepped into the building calmly. A laptop carrier was slung around his right shoulder, hanging off of his left side.
The teenager scanned around the room. From what he saw, the furniture was arranged so that people could socialize. From what Rick gathered, if gaming tournaments were to take place on the first floor, teams could keep in direct interaction if they were to be seated all together. That, and it would be easy to make friends if it were simply being used for a casual day of gaming.
Rick ordered a hot chocolate from the counter. Once his order was finished, the Demon Chair took a seat at a vacant table. From there, the blue-haired weapon would pull a laptop from the case, along with the charger. After plugging the cord into the laptop, and the power socket, Rick occupied one of the USB slots with a wireless mouse before turning the power on.
Moments later, the Demon Chair had started a new game of Deus Ex.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color:909090 ; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Today I don't feel like doing anything Two days and thirty seven minutes, it had been two days and thirty seven minutes since Eva's laptop went out of commission due to a "weapon-related" accident. On the bright side, it was good to know that her blade wasn't dull, but then again since she never used it, why would it be? The loss of her laptop could have been more painful, but her phone had in part helped her tide through those agonizing two days and thirty seven minutes. Yes, access to social networking sites kept the technology withdrawal at bay, but it has been two days and thirty seven minutes too long without PC games.
Eva had even jittered slightly while walking to the coffee shop, but she wasn't looking for a caffeine fix. A small bell above the door tinkled as she entered the coffee shop; in her state of mind it might as well have been the opening tones of a Gregorian chant. Make no mistake, she had entered a church of gaming geekdom to worship PC gaming. The initial ten dollars she handed over? It was her contribution to the collection plate. Her eyes widened slightly in dewy adoration at the laptop that was passed into her hands.
The room seemed to close off as she made a beeline for the closest table she could find. At this moment, there was only her, this laptop, and- ah! She successfully fished out a USB drive and her mouse. Fortunately, Eva had been neurotic enough to transfer her saved files after every gaming session.
"Praise the lawd," she sighed quietly as Mass Effect 2 loaded, never mind that she was not even Christian. The phrase was charming, and fit the situation.
Now that she had a laptop in hand, Eva relaxed and was able to actually take in the room. She had somehow found herself sitting diagonal of a boy. Huh, strange, she somehow didn't quite remember anything between the moments she physically obtained the laptop and just now. She suddenly grew slightly self-conscious of her Chinese period costume, and tried to sweep aside the butterfly sleeves to make herself presentable.
She thought to herself that he would be quite the one to judge, with that blue hair of his. Ahh, but Eva envied his pale skin. It was quite unfair, you know, when boys had features they couldn't possibly appreciate. |

Xypher was bored. Bored of life, school, and any other thing that came her way. So she decided to change things up, she was going to a coffee shop today. She was determined to do something interesting today. So as she entered the small shop, she stuck her head timidly in, making sure no one was there that would hurt her. Mainly, her brother. When the coast looked clear, she stepped in, hoping she wasn't over dressed. Thinking about the plain white dress she wore, with white knee-high boots with slightly miss-matching hot pink shoe laces. Her sense of style had left when she decided she'd dress like a proper woman. Along with most of her clothes. When she was younger she wasn't afraid to show off what she had. Though now she was afraid of everything.
The shop was crowded today, she had ordered some coffee, a white chocolate mocha to be specific. She waited a moment while they made it and took it, looking around spotted a seat by a boy with blue hair and girl in a Chinese outfit, having no where else to sit really, she sat in between the to softly staring down at her cup of coffee and nothing else, but taking a sip of it. The sweet flavoring mixed with something that would give her energy that would help her make it through the day, hoping that she wouldn't have any hard homework tonight. Though that probably wasn't the hard part right now, the hard part was just trying to stay relaxed. Xypher never relaxed anymore she was always worried about something or someone somewhere. She hated how anxious she could be at times.
The blue haired boy was playing a game, and the girl was also into her computer very much. Xypher felt out of place, she had no money to rent a laptop and she didn't know much about computers anyway. She didn't have any money with her right now, except for just enough for the coffee, she started to wish she had brought her card to buy one, just to look in place. Oh why did she never fit in?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color:909090 ; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Today I don't feel like doing anything The Outfit: Ta-da~ The Notes Finally gave in and found a template c: From the corner of her eye, Eva noted the girl in the white dress sitting down beside her, cup of coffee in hand. Eva froze up slightly; she never did know how to handle herself around unfamiliar people of the same age group, key word being “unfamiliar.” In her grand delusions she liked to think of herself as endearingly awkward. She knew though, that the truth was she simply had too much imaginary pride and vanity to speak first, for fear of being ignored or thought of as a pest. At least if the other person spoke first, she wouldn't be in danger of trying to start a conversation with someone who was entirely uninterested.
Silence was something Eva could deal with. If you knew someone well enough, silence wasn't an enormous spotlight bearing down on you and forcing you to action. However, the problem was that these two people in close vicinity were complete strangers, and silence was just that, awkwardness. That at least she and the boy had the excuse of being busy with their respectful laptops somewhat alleviated the situation, but only slightly.
Damn it all, the demon weapon thought to herself. She made the trek out here only because her thoroughly destroyed laptop prevented her from further anti-social behavior. When she had finally crawled out of her room in the Shibusen dormitories her partner Rune had been close to filing a Missing Persons report. His reaction seemed greatly exaggerated to her; she did go out of her room, to shower and to use the bathroom, she just hurried through it all so quickly he must not have caught her. Was it so bad that she wished to be able to complete her run-through alone, in a controlled environment? She could be social again afterward.
Eva tried to focus on her game, but the mingling scents of the boy’s hot chocolate and the girl’s coffee was driving her nuts. Come to think of it, she hadn’t had any real sustenance during her time of isolation besides water and carefully rationed stale French bread and spreadable cheese. At least her prison food was vaguely classy. Yes, yes, she did want something warm and filling, but she couldn’t see the menu board over the counter from the angle where she was sitting. She was also not entirely willing to get up without the intention to actually order a drink, and maybe a pastry or two, or three. Onscreen, her Shepard was sprawled on the floor and the unmerciful red words “CRITICAL MISSION FAILURE” taunted her. However, Eva was not in the state of mind to be particularly bothered, as several compulsions were colliding with one another and she was unable to decide what to do next. She was already nestled into her seat, and unwilling to get up just to check whether the drinks were outrageously over-priced or vaguely reasonable. However, that meant engaging either of the two strangers sitting at the table. At the same time, she was really damn hungry.
Hunger overruled her inhibitions. She turned her head to face the other occupants, and strategically aimed her line of sight to the space between them. “How much was your drink?” Eva asked, directing her question at neither of the two in particular. Her inhibition already lowered, she thought she might as well just push the flood gates of sociability open just a crack. “I love your dress, by the way,” she said with a smile, now actually attempting to make eye contact with the girl next to her. “I’ve never really been able to pull off white. I always end up getting some kind of permanent stain on it sooner or later.”

By the time the blue-haired boy got settled in, he had noticed two people had sat near him. One of them was a strange girl in Chinese garb, playing Mass Effect 2. The other one, however, was a girl in a white dress who wasn't playing a video game. For a moment, the Demon Chair looked at the girl, who seemed nervous.
"Uh, ya alright?", Rick asked the pink-haired girl. Whether or not he would get an answer, he would quickly return to his game.
JC Denton was on Liberty Island, hiding behind a set of boxes. An NSF guard casually walked by the boxes, oblivious to the presence of the nano-augmented agent. In his crouching position, slowly creeping up on the unsuspecting NSF guard. Once the guard stopped, JC Denton moved in for the kill, standing up once he was in range, then striking him in the back of the head with his crowbar, killing him instantly. The nano-augmented agent quickly looted the corpse of the trooper, after which he picked up his body and quietly carried it to the shadows before dropping it out of sight.
Once again, however, Rick's session of gaming was interrupted. However, it was the girl in the Chinese outfit asking about the price of their drinks. "A buck o'nine. . .", he told her casually. Then the girl proceeded to talk to the pink-haired girl about her outfit. At this point, Rick quietly went back to Deus Ex, where he'd continue to stealthily murder NSF troopers before going in to rescue Gunther Hermann, who had a big and metal body, with a very German accent.

She wasn't sure if she should say something to the two of them, but she couldn't imagine what to say or if she should say anything at all. Then finally the blue haired boy asked if she was alright. Oh gosh, did she really look that upset or nervous. She just stared at him for a moment, feeling her cheeks getting slightly red, then realized she should probably respond with something. "Uh.. Oh! Um... I'm fine.. I mean.. Sorry..." she stated taking another sip of her coffee, hoping that he didn't think she was stupid. Because she sure felt stupid for being so nervous around people. There really was no reason for her to feel like that.
She was sitting there feeling dumber then ever when the girl asked how much her drink was, but before she had the time to muster up the courage to respond the boy had answered for her. She guessed that was better then nothing, and she got away with not having to talk, but then the girl did something else. The girl complemented her dress. Her dress? Xypher looked down, not quite remembering which one she put on that day, blinked. It was a very boring dress. Though it seemed the girl just happened to be jealous that she could pull off white. Xypher never really thought it was that big of a deal, though she used to always where black when she was with the emo, goth, punk crowd, so maybe for some people it was? Either way she probably should say something.
"Really? I'm sorry...." She began not really sure what to say "Still, your outfit is far more unique then mine... and it still looks good." She stuttered a lot less then earlier, but her voice was still quiet, just loud enough so the girl could hear her, she wasn't all that confident in her ability to talk to strangers, but at least she was being nice, right? | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] WORDS: 358 | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] Rick + Eva | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] CLOTHES: Average white dress | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] NOTES: Hope this is alright!~ |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color:909090 ; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Today I don't feel like doing anything A dollar and nine cents? That was a fairly reasonable price, and left more money for pastries and delectable sweets. The boy answered first, though from the pink haired girl's previous difficulty to answer his casual inquiry, this wasn’t too much of a surprise. Eva described herself as awkward around strangers, but really her stumbling block was getting the conversation started. The girl next to her, however, seemed terrified of even the possibility of interacting with strangers. Eva felt awful for it, but she felt she was practically an effortless social butterfly compared to the girl.
That rabbit, Eva thought, she’s like that rabbit. That is, the rabbit her second grade teacher brought to class that got along just fine in its cage. However, as soon as the teacher tried to open the small metal door, the rabbit retreated to the further corner, pressing itself against the sides even though it could go no further. The children that bunched around cooed as the teacher held the bunny rabbit in her hands. The fur looked so soft, she remembered clearly, but that animal was trembling violently even before the first pair of hands was instructed to stroke it oh-so gently. She’s just like that rabbit.
The girl in white looked down at the dress before answering, as though she had trouble understanding why she was being complemented. Just as Eva was feeling slightly more confident, this small gesture sent her mind reeling. Oh no, would the girl in white think she was being insincere, or worse, underhanded and snarky? The comment was indeed an attempt at small talk, and mentioning the dress seemed innocent enough. Of course the most obvious topic would be the girl’s powdery pink hair. (It seemed strange to Eva to call the pale pastel color “demure,” as pink hair in itself was rather effective at grabbing people’s attention, but it was soft and unassuming enough like the girl herself. ) Of course, many others must have already asked about the pink hair, and bringing it up would likely only cause her to grow annoyed, or more likely, intensely self-conscious. Eva wondered if she had really gotten so bad at conversing with others that one of the very first things out of her mouth was a social faux pas. She forced herself to continue to smile, waiting for an answer with a tight-lipped nervous grin plastered on her face.
"Really? I'm sorry...." The girl’s just-audible-enough reply interrupted her frenzied paranoia. At first the demon weapon thought she had imagined the girl’s voice, it was so soft, but the feathery sound continued. "Still, your outfit is far more unique then mine... and it still looks good.”
“Hmm? You don’t need to apologize for being able to work a dress,” Eva said. She then very quickly tried to recant her statement, only realizing after she said it that it seemed a bit bold to say to a complete stranger. “Not that I’m hitting on you or anything! I’m not a lesbian in any way, because I don't get sexually attracted to women. I'm only stating something that I think is true, and people can do that without being homosexual. Not that I have anything against them.” Thoroughly flustered, the demon weapon put her hand to her forehead, covering her face in shame. “Unique is one way to put it. I usually only wear this at school, and change into ‘normal’ clothes when I go out," she continued, the long sleeve muffling her voice somewhat.
