MAIN USERNAME: Orichalcon
CHARACTER NAME: Orichalcon DuCroix
RACE: Human
CLASS: Demon Weapon
ADVANCED CLASS:
AGE: 17
GENDER: Male
APPEARANCE: Imagine a normal person for a moment. Brown hair, brown eyes. No glasses, nice teeth. Then stretch that person out without adding any muscle mass, and darken his eyes and hair to almost black. That will give you a starting idea of Ori, and will suffice if you don’t want to look any closer at him. However, if you decide to take a closer look, you’ll find some other features that aren’t so normal. Ori’s bangs hide some respectable scars on his forehead, although he claims that he got them from running into tables as a child. His skin is almost supernaturally pale and unable to tan or burn, causing he himself to joke that he “is so white, he reflects the sun.” His mouth is usually a little dry, and he is always thirsty, something ironic considering his weapon form’s traits. His dark eyes are still brown, and lighten immensely in bright sunlight, creating a somewhat intimidating visage. Because of his body shape, he has been mistaken for Shinigami-sama in dark rooms, often getting in trouble for unintentionally tricking faculty and students. Other than this, however, he is very plain, and sometimes feels like a mere background character against his bright and exciting fellow students.
CURRENT PARTNER(S): None (Hazan Shehadi if she joins)
WEAPON FORM(S): Ori transforms into a longbow. The form is far more organic and monstrous than other weapons, something that Ori is ashamed of. However, because of the sturdy form, Ori can block even strikes from a Shibusen weapon, and can shatter normal weapons. Ori has no true partial weapon form, but occasionally coughs up arrows, though this usually only occurs when he is unfocused. These arrows are weak and floppy, as though they were made of rubber, due to the lack of a Meister’s soul energy to make proper ones. In his full bow form, Ori has power, range, and accuracy, but is terrible at rapid-fire. Ori energizes the arrows subconsciously, though he can switch modes, but constant fire tires him out. He is also rather light for a weapon, allowing the technician to run around with him more easily.
The other strange part about Ori’s weapon form is that it does not suit him well, and his performance suffers as a result. Ori has oft lamented his form, wishing he could take more of a direct approach…
WITCH ANIMA:
MADNESS THEME:
ABILITIES: Strangely, none to mention, unless you count coughing up the floppy arrows. He’s not happy about this.
EQUIPMENT:
MINIONS:
VEHICLES:
LOYALTY: Shibusen
KEY ATTRIBUTES: Long firing range. Any arrows Ori fires are guaranteed to stay together for 150 feet before dissipating. When Ori’s “clumsiness” doesn’t bite him in the rear, his accuracy and strength and strength are top-notch. Any arrow he fires will fly straight and true, and burrow into the target with significant force upon impact, providing a serious punch. His depression manifests fairly easily, to the point where simply dissing him, or even him experiencing a loss will push him into it. Once he starts self-hating, he’s not going to be very helpful for the rest of the fight. His bowstring will lose all of its tension, and his accuracy and range go right out the window. Only positive reinforcement can bring him out of this funk, and that’s hard to provide in a battle. In addition, his inability to fire multiple arrows, or fire them in rapid succession, presents a fairly large efficiency issue. He also is incredibly clumsy. This unfortunately can even manifest in his weapon form, as arrows will occasionally snarl in his bowstring or even misfire, causing them to fly wildly. He can't transform unless he is under duress, and lacks a partial form. Also, he is near-useless in a one-on-one fight unless he is angry.
PERSONALITY: Poor, poor Ori. All these fancy students, turning into swords and guns and musical instrument-themed bludgeons… And then there’s him. Suffering from a major inferiority complex, Ori is most definitely NOT excited to be at Shibusen, especially as a weapon. Almost painfully shy despite his height, Ori would be a frequent target of bullying if he actually responded to any of the jibes and jokes often sprung on him. However, he stays silent and stoic. When he does talk, however, he is usually pretty funny, combining a truly dry sense of humor with a perfect deadpan. However, behind those jokes lies the aforementioned inferiority complex. Ori is fully aware that as a weapon he is far more inefficient than other students, especially compared to some of his fellow students. The form’s monstrous appearance also adds to his pessimism. Because of these seemingly insurmountable problems (at least in Ori’s mind), he tends to forget his power, range, and accuracy, all of which are actually quite high, even more so than several of the higher-profile students, as well as his elemental ability, which is an almost unheard-of ability, especially for a completely untrained weapon. In addition, his downer attitude negatively affects his performance as a weapon. However, the exception to this rule is when Ori gets competitive. Occasionally, his weak will gives way to an intense drive to win, and Ori performs in top form. However, the problem with this is that this usually happens when he gets angry, blurring his judgment.
HISTORY: The boy who would be Ori was born first to a large family in a small Greek village once known as the home of pirates. Pale and sickly, he quickly developed an inferiority complex as his younger and stronger brothers outshone him in almost everything he tried to do. Though his brothers were not sore winners nor overly prideful, the boy still felt like he was the bottom of the totem pole in the family. When he was determined to have weapon powers after he accidentally pinned his teacher with an arrow he coughed up, the boy was riding high on what he thought would finally be his time to shine… Until he discovered he couldn’t actually transform when he wanted to. Ashamed of his situation, the young man eschewed attempting to train his abilities, choosing to mope instead. For 2 years the boy simply languished, depressed and bitter, until a Kishin Egg pirate took the boy’s home island as a stronghold, and rapidly began eating the souls of the inhabitants. The boy and his family managed to hide from the pirate successfully, but had to watch as their friends lost their souls, driving the boy further into depression.
That was when the Meister showed up.
The boy was the first one to see the boat land on the island, and the first one to see the young man and the woman get off. He was the first one to see the two walk into the pirate’s stronghold. He was the only one to see the woman turn into an axe and be used by the young man to start slaughtering the pirates. And he was the only one to see the axe get broken by the pirate, as it turned back into the dying woman. Pulling the Meister through a secret passage, the two could only watch in horror as the pirate devoured the poor weapon’s soul, becoming a true Kishin egg. Unable to call Shibusen or any other Meisters for help, the Meister began to fall into despair… Until the boy told him that he himself was a weapon. The urgency of the situation allowed the boy to transform for the first time, into his weapon form. After a brief episode of body horror over the boy’s monstrous form, the two worked in a secret cove on the island, getting a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of the weapon. The Meister soon devised a plan that would allow the two to defeat the Kishin and honor the memory of the Meister’s fallen partner. Walking into the building straight on, the two found the pirate once more devouring souls. Before the pirate could react, the Meister shot him in the chest with an arrow, and his lungs were punctured. Unable to breathe, the pirate fell over, drowning, and the two cheered… Until the pirate stood back up, laughing. He had devoured so many souls that he no longer required to breathe, and was dangerously close to becoming a full kishin. Rushing the pair with a large sword, the boy prepared to be shattered and die as the blade was brought down upon him.
A dull thud, and a crack.
The pirate looked in disbelief as his sword cracked the top of the blade falling over. The boy was not even scratched. Taking advantage of the moment, the meister fired an arrow through the pirate's head. The Kishin Egg fell to the ground, dead. Now the hero of the island, the boy was asked by the Meister to come to Shibusen and train to become a death scythe. When he got there, he decided to leave his name behind, and renamed himself Orichalcon DuCroix. Now if he could only get rid of his neuroses…
