LOYALISTS & FREELANCERS
The Loyalist / Freelancer characteristic is a new addition to the character profile on SoV made specifically for the Faction / Territory Control update. Choosing to make your character a Loyalist or Freelancer lets them fight in TC battles and take advantage of the benefits of Faction membership. However, being a Loyalist also means that if the Faction suffers a setback so too does your character.
As of today, January 18 2012, every character on the forums is 'roleplay only'. They can do Missions, post in RP threads, and generally do everything a roleplaying character normally does. Making them a Loyalist makes the character part of the "army" of a Faction; making them a Freelancer means they can either do work for the Factions or take Territory for themselves. Roleplay-only characters are no less a part of the story... they just simply won't see as much fighting as Loyalists / Freelancers and won't be as effected by the Factions fighting each other. It is recommended that new players start with a roleplay-only character.
If you'd like to change the status of an existing character, post a link to the character's profile in this thread along with their new status (Loyalist / Freelancer / Roleplay-only). If becoming a Loyalist, include which Faction they are loyal to. Characters may only be a Loyalist for ONE Faction at a time. Characters can only change their status once a month -- you must wait 30 days after a status change before the staff will change it again.
Characters who are Freelancers or Loyalists of a 'main' Faction will have the appropriate banner added to their character profile. For new characters you may add the banner yourself. Player-made Faction banners will be included if provided by the Faction.
Note that both / all members of a Weapon-Meister team must be Loyalists of the same Faction (or Freelancers) to fight together in Territory Control.
