CURRENT PARTNER(S): none
ABILITIES:
ABILITY NAME: Soul Hearing-Theme-
TYPE: Active
STRENGTH: Inept
KEYWORDS: Soul Perception
DESCRIPTION: Works as a meister's soul perception would, but through the sense of hearing. When activated Darius' high sense of hearing picks up the resonating waves of surrounding souls within a small radius. Due to him not being able to truly see his target, all souls around him are sensed, and could lead to being a major disturbance to his main objective. Darius is still developing his sense to be able to hear souls at further distances, yet in this early stage he can only hear souls within a 10 feet radius.
EQUIPMENT: Blind-Fold – This item was given to Darius as a gift from his father. Never truly knowing the color nor the reason of the gift, Darius, holds it close to his heart.
Walking Cane – Another gift from his father, This cane has no specialty attributes. Darius has opened his mind and expanded his sense to no longer need the cane to “see” the world, yet he holds on to the cane knowing that his father was the one that bestowed it upon him.
MINIONS:
VEHICLES:
LOYALTY: Shibusen
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
Strengths:
Heightened Senses – Darius was born blind. Over time his other sense began to over develop into near super human levels. From his Vestibular sense to his hearing he can “see” the world from a different view. With this small handicap that “God” had given him, a brighter world had been unlocked through his training with his father.
His slender build aids him in being agile, and quite flexible
Weaknesses:
Low upper body strength, Darius relies much more on his speed rather than his strength.
With the aid of lessened upper body strength comes low durability. Darius may train hard in the area of cardio, but he lacks the strength to take a beating. His slender, lean frame is quite fragile.
PERSONALITY: Laid-Back could be one way to describe the easy going man that is Darius. He tends to hold back on expending emotion unless he “sees” a purpose to export his emotional energy. A darkened sense of humor would be a lighter way of describing the thought process that holds his laughter. Think of the most terrible thing you have ever seen in your life... That is but a small joke to Darius, but you would have to vividly describe everything for him to get the picture. To compliment his darkened sense of humor, He loves to use his blindness as a punch-line whenever he can.
HISTORY: Darius was brought into this “lovely” world by Rachael, a stay at home wife, and Marcus, an MMA gym owner in central Indianapolis, Radcliff, a family that resided in Indianapolis, Indiana. Darius was born blind. His pupils a feint green showed his parents and doctors his handicap. Rachael and Marcus were devestated that their son had been cursed to live in a world without sight, and this lit a fire in them to protect him and teach him to “see” the world through his own “eyes”. Three days after he was born he was taken from the hospital for his family to return home. The family lived in a small apartment complex that happened to be in a horrible part of town, Six Points. This part of Indianapolis held a decently high crime rate through Darius' upbringing.
Due to his disability, Darius was home schooled. He rarely got the chance to go outside and mingle with the neighborhood, for his family was scarred that it would lead to an untimely death. This fear mainly resided within Marcus. He saw that his son was “weak” in the world's view, and being a MMA fighter and trainer he wanted to push his son to turn a lifetime weakness into a strength.
At age 10, Darius was pushed into the gym to start training with his father. His homeschooling was pushed aside for what seemed more important at the time. Marcus pushed and fought with Darius for a week, and noticed that he wasn't retaining anything that was being taught. Darius couldn't see what was coming at all, yet his father continued to spar with him.
The lack of retention pushed Marcus into finding a way to truly train his son. He had to attack the senses and enhance them. He started by placing Darius in the center of the gym and clapping as he circled the outer wall. Every foot that Marcus scaled he would yell out “Do you see me?” even after receiving an obviously smart answer Marcus would continue his questioning. “Hone in on the sounds, Darius. You can do it. Do you see me?!” Marcus instructed then questioned again as he continued to circle the room. Negative responses were all he received for a few weeks, but as time passed Darius began to “see” his father.
This opened up a new view on life for Darius. He could “see” through the use of his ears. It was an extraordinary factor that his father had taught him. He could see by clapping and allowing the sound to resonate within the room. The sound bouncing off every surface revealing the shape and build of each object. The only thing that he wished he would gain from this was to see colors. The only “colors” he could see as sound resonated were what he thought was blue and gray.
Now with his sight truly opened, Darius could start to learn the various ways of fighting that his father wanted to show him. He started out with a basic, wrestling. Learning the various grapples as his father attacked him. He clicked his tongue to keep his vision up to fully retain the way each attack was being preformed. Within months, Darius mastered the art of wrestling, or touched his father's amateur level of mastery.
With a base in a fighting form, Darius wanted to learn a weapon style. He thought that it would throw off his opponents with just the thought of a blind weapon wielder. A sword was the weapon of choice. Marcus agreed to letting Darius take on such a task, and he found a suitable teacher to train Darius. The only setback was that Darius would have to train in a dojo a mile away from his father's gym.
It was an unsettling feel to be away from his father's protection, but it was completely worth it in his eyes. He was now 15 and fully capable of protecting himself while walking a mile, plus he had his mother he could call if he ever wanted a ride rather than to walk. Everything was perfectly fine, or it seemed that way.
Weeks after starting to train with the sword, Darius was struck with tragedy. His father had lost his gym due to foreclosure. A sad event within itself, but this had a bigger toll to it. His father was in massive debt with a bad group of people. That group of people decided that Marcus' time was up, and they took his life to call for a debt. Marcus was victim to a drive by shooting that's case ended up being dropped months after investigation.
This tragedy struck down Rachael breaking her will to live. She lived her life cooking, cleaning, and caring for this man that was just ripped from her heart. Detached would certainly describe the way she became. The house began to become a pig sty, food never being prepared, and cloths never being touched for washing. This area, that was already a bad place to live, sat in as an even worse place for Darius.
Darius loved his mother and knew that she was better than this, yet he couldn't help but face reality and know that his mother had given up on life. The very state of depression sat in his apartment everyday. Darius had to find a way out, a way away from home. Only one answer came to his mind, and that was the DWMA.
He had heard stories from his sword trainer. The school sounded like the perfect place for Darius. He just had to push his mother to go. His fighting and endless pleading finally motivated his mother... It only took him two years to accomplish such a feat. The endless waves of persuading and nagging landed him in Death City. Now 17, Darius looks forward to unlocking more of his hidden potential, and polishing it to become a force of true power.

The blind-Fold and cane that were gifts from Marcus had little benefit to his history. They were birthday gifts that his father thought were best for him as a child.
