CHARACTER NAME: Yudai Kaneko
RACE: Human
CLASS: Meister
ADVANCED CLASS: Nurse
AGE: 20
GENDER:Male
APPEARANCE:
Yudai stands at about 6'0â€, and has a fairly weak looking body. While he is much taller than his cousin, it's obvious that being fairly short, is in the family's genes. His eyes are also, the same colour green, as Yuu's, and his skin is similar to Yuu's, being a warm, yet light tone. Yudai also has light brown hair, that is messy, with cowlicks in almost every direction. The man's face is roundish, and could be described as boyish, which could cause controversy, as to how old he actually is.
The man does not share a similar sense of fashion, to his cousin at all. When Yudai wakes up in the morning, apparently, he has a closet full of wrinkled clothes, and due to his constant habit of being late, he tends to just throw on whatever seems to match, without ironing it. He tends to wear suits, which despite being constantly messy, are pretty boring, and tasteless. While he tries to pick out things that match, there are off days, where he can't tell the difference between yellow, and purple, and comes to work wearing something completely ridiculous.
CURRENT PARTNER(S): None
MADNESS THEME: Insecurity
Yudai is generally a confused person, and his swaying emotions usually cause problems for him. While he has moments of confidence, they are almost directly followed by a larger fear of failure. When he reaches a task that seems too difficult, he tends to lose confidence. The sudden loss of confidence, is followed by a conversation with himself, that lies on the line of both a pep talk, and him trying to convince himself that he can't do it, and that he should give up. In this moment of confusion he tends to become unaware of what is happening...Just himself, and all the things that make him feel like less of a person. It can also be triggered by another person, like if they were to convince him that he was incapable, then he wouldn't be sure of himself. However, after this moment passes, he suddenly changes into another extreme version of himself. The insecurities flip in a sense...Instead of continuing to pity himself, and point out his own flaws, he boosts his confidence by pointing out the flaws of others. This boost in confidence causes him to become increasing violent, and cocky. Whether it's in a fight, or just a simple task, he seems to gain the drive to complete, or finish it. In a sense...He becomes so insecure, and is filled with so much self-loathing, that he needs to undermine others, or a task, and needs to finish what he started in order to feel good about himself again.
To say that his mother was a big part of this wouldn't be much of a lie, but she isn't the direct cause. Being subject to things like bullying, and not feeling like he was good enough for most of his life led him to this. The last part is closer to his mother's teachings..."You're better than all of them", and he tends to hear her voice when he finally snaps. The need to feel both accepted, and important is enough to push him over the edge.
ABILITIES:
MAIN:
ABILITY NAME: Novice Soul Purge
TYPE: Active
STRENGTH: Inept
KEYWORDS: wavelength, melee
DESCRIPTION:
The standard Soul Purge, as taught to Meisters by Shibusen, relies on a Meister's ability to "weaponize" their own soul wavelength as a momentary surge of energy. At this level Soul Purge is not especially potent, though it can lend an extra jolt to the character's punches -- or kicks, if you prefer -- to make them more damaging in combat. Whether fists, feet, or otherwise, Soul Purge requires physical contact in order to do damage.
SUPPORT:
Kaze Sabaki
TYPE: Active
STRENGTH: Average
KEYWORDS: Wind Movement Technique
DESCRIPTION:
One of the Ishida’s main footwork techniques. By self-resonating one’s own soul, the user shoots out a wavelength through the feet into the ground (in a lunge) to close a distance of three meters in an instant. Primarily used to surprise the enemy. But the downside of this technique is that it can only make linear movement. Cannot turn. Three post cool down after usage.
Sora Sabaki
TYPE: Active
STRENGTH: Average
KEYWORDS: Sky Movement Technique
DESCRIPTION:
An intermediate level of the Ishida’s footwork techniques. Same as the other footwork techniques, through self-resonation and shooting out the wavelength into the ground, the practitioner is able to jump an additional 3 meters in height after jumping already.
ABILITY NAME:Medical Knowledge
TYPE:Passive
STRENGTH:Skilled
KEYWORDS:Medical, Healing, Anatomy
DESCRIPTION:Being a nurse, it's obvious that he has knowledge of the human body, and how it works. This would benefit him in combat, because he'd know where to attack specifically, as opposed to others, especially those not skilled in combat. This knowledge would also help him, if he, or one of his comrades was injured in battle.
EQUIPMENT:
EQUIPMENT NAME:First Aid Kit
TYPE:Item
STRENGTH:Average
DESCRIPTION:This first aid kit holds various things that Yudai might need in order to...Give someone first aid. It contains rubbing alcohol, various types of bandages, a needle in case he needs to apply stitches, aloe, rash creams, and various other items that are normal for first aid kits. Other items that wouldn't normally be included, are things such as asthma inhalers, epi-pens, various types of pain medications, and an ice pack.

LOYALTY: Shibusen
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
Strengths:
Nursing History
High Pain Tolerance(Masochistic)
High Intelligence
Weaknesses:
Low Physical Strength
Taunting Or Distraction Causes Severe Swaying In Emotion(Due to his Bipolar disorder)
Low Pain Threshold(Arthritis)
PERSONALITY:
Bipolar
The most major part of his personality, is his Bipolar disorder. He is fully aware of this disorder, and is fairly embarrassed by it, and tries to hide it as best he can. However, due to the nature of the disorder, it is incredibly difficult for him. Usually it appears in the form of a sudden shift between a high, and low self-esteem(The high self-esteem, presenting itself as Narcissism). In these shifts, he will usually talk a lot, and seems to have difficulties determining how he feels about things. The talking is either to another person, or to himself...but is not limited to one or the other.
Masochist
No matter what his state of mind is, he tends to enjoy his own pain, or discomfort. Whether it sprouts from being more comfortable with being dominated, because of his childhood, or he just enjoys the stimulation, he still gets pleasure from it. Sometimes he'll engage in physical activity, with the knowledge that he is incapable of it(Due to his Arthritis), simply for the rush it gives him.
Easily Used and Forgotten
While he does have shifting attitudes, he is generally passive, and easy to take advantage of. He has a difficulty, telling someone that he doesn't want to do something, and many people have taken advantage of that, including his younger cousin. Along with that, people tend to forget about him, or even ignore him, because he doesn't make an attempt to stand out. Most of it is him trying to hide his personal issues, thus trying to “blend inâ€. While he himself is peculiar, he's not dominant enough to be remembered.
Impulsive
Also because of his disorder, he has an issue with being impulsive. His thoughts, while they may or may not be incredibly intelligent, rush around out of his control. Sometimes he finds himself doing things, and isn't entirely sure what the rhyme or reason is, and because of that finds himself late to many things. This would also explain his choice of clothes, which are thrown on in a rush, without any thought on how people would react to them. However, his impulsive decisions do not seem to affect his obvious intelligence, as he is capable of thinking things through, it's just a lack of patience, and or focus that stops him from it.
HISTORY:
Yudai Kaneko was born already stacked with high expectations, because of his eccentric mother. She was a fashion designer, who also happened to have the capabilities of a Meister...However she only spent a small amount of time studying in Shibusen. His father on the other hand, was a NOT-Class Meister, with a Wind Soul. He actually graduated from Shibusen, and sought out the woman of his dreams. She had impressed him when they met at Shibusen, and she liked him because of he was so passive, and easy to manipulate. While the relationship wasn't necessarily the best, they were married after their reunion, and had a child.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, Yudai was caught between his mother...Who used him like a dress-up doll, and his father...Who simply sat there, with a goofy smile on his face, seemingly without a care in the world. The hilarious thing about the marriage itself, was the fact that his father took on his mother's name. She was proud of her “Kaneko†namesake, and he was more than happy to oblige. The strange world that he grew up in, made him a definite target for bullying from the other kids. The small boy was weak, and frail...He suffered from arthritis. The bullies at the school would torment him, and his mother would tell him that Kaneko's were more fabulous than them...Sure that his mother wouldn't lie, he kept that thought in his head...but for some reason he couldn't help but feeling inferior at the same time.
The confusion only got worse, once his father grew ill. His father chose that day to explain what a Meister was to, Yudai, and teach him about Shibusen. Yudai, both full of wonder, and fear that he wouldn't make an adequate Meister, went to discuss it with his mother. Despite the way she would usually assure him, that he's from an amazing bloodline, and that no one else could compare to him...This time she shut him down...Saying that due to his condition, he would probably be classified as a NOT-Class Meister...and if that was the case, there would be no point in enrolling in Shibusen. Around this time was when his other condition became clear. Going to school the next day, one moment he was completely calm, and reserved...Then in the next moment he sounded more like his mother. Stuck on the idea that being a Kaneko made him genetically superior to everyone else there. His shifting opinions, and feelings slowly made him become more outcast...From the rest of his peers.
The child got older, and things only became more complicated as he moved into his first year of Junior High. Not only school itself...but the fact that this was the year he lost his father. It was also the first year he met his mother's equivalent..in the form of a seven year old child..though this wouldn't become evident until they had future encounters. At the funeral for his father, is where he met him. A young boy dressed in a school boy's uniform...Of course they had about a four year age difference, but Yudai needed comforting, and he tried to find it with this child. Yudai introduced himself, and tried his hardest to keep calm, as they began conversation. For some reason the child seemed distant, and bored, which slightly annoyed Yudai...but it was understandable. A kid his age wouldn't be able to understand things like this. Though the strange part was how well the child seemed to get along with his aunt. It began with a formal introduction, which turned into a discussion about his mother's favourite topic...Which of course turned into a long argument. However...By the end of it all his mother was laughing...and seemed genuinely happy. This made Yudai even more confused, but after the service was over, he had also talked to the young, Yuu, and had a similar experience. Though...he did seem to talk a lot, he was an interesting person.
This was he felt originally...However in his third year of Junior High...He was reunited with his cousin. The moment that Yudai answered the door, he recognized the nine year old...Who now had a single earring in his left ear. However...as soon as he greeted him, the boy responded with a “Who are you?â€, before he skipped in the house, and greeted his aunt, and Yudai's mother. Yudai sat there with an annoyed look on his face, but then his mother told him that Yuu would be staying with them during the summer. For some reason, Yudai couldn't help, but let Yuu walk all over him that summer. Every morning Yudai greeted him...and received the same response that he got, when Yuu first walked in the door. This annoyed Yudai more and more, but he still tried to hang out with his younger cousin. They discussed things sometimes...Including Shibusen. One night while Yuu was using the computer, Yudai suggested that he look the school up...Which was how Yuu discovered Shibusen. However...The next morning he of course claimed...That he had thought of looking it up on his own. This started the rocky relationship, between Yudai...and his flamboyant cousin.
Upon reaching High School, a lot of things began to change for him. While he didn't want to join Shibusen, because of his mother assuring him that he would end up as NOT-Class, he did however learn about Soul Purge, and tried to find ways to increase his capabilities with it. This was also when he learned that he wanted to be a male nurse. The training for both of these things began...When he met a close friend of his father. A man who went by Ishina, and studied martial arts. The man took pity on him, and used acupuncture to help his arthritis, just enough so that he would be able to train Yudai, in his family's footwork techniques, and how to use his Soul Purge to a greater extent. After this, Yudai found himself acting more confident more often...However, this may have contributed more to his narcissistic moments, and was bullied fairly less. With his new found confidence, he began preparing himself, so that he could become a nurse.
After spending two years in college, and getting his Associates Degree, he heard from his aunt, that Yuu had joined Shibusen. While Yudai had spent most of his life avoiding the school, he wanted to be close to his cousin. So instead of continuing his schooling, he decided to stop, and take up a nursing position at Shibusen.
MORE INFO:Yudai suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis, which makes many of his movements unbearable. Usually when he exerts himself too much.
