The sun was still low enough to make the heat bearable against her sensitive skin. She kicked the sand so it puffed up around her as she walked around the edge of the town. Her red hair bounced up and down as she walked, but it mostly stayed knotted together. In Mocha's thin arms she held a medium sized bowl. Filled with strawberries missing the tops that had once held the green leaves. A pleasant hum came from her mouth as she walked and ate. Sure it wasn't the best thing to be doing so early in the morning since she could be curled up asleep in her bed, but when you couldn't sleep and you had gotten bored to that point. Than it was a perfect time to be out.
Mocha couldn't see a soul around her as she walked, but that was alright. She pulled up a warm coffee to her lips. She had stopped by a little coffee shop on the way and got a french vanilla cup of delicious wonders. She was going to keep walking in the early morning sunlight, but she found a lovely rock to sit on and watch the empty desert. She set her coffee beside her and kept the bowl of strawberries on her lap.
Most people wouldn't find much joy in watching the desert. If you had the patience to wait though, you could see a lot of things. The desert was full of living things, like lizards, frogs, and the occasional fox. If you waited long enough you could even swear the sand was alive. Shifting and turning in the wind. Moving even the largest of sand dunes in time. Sure there weren't to many towers of sand around really but there was still enough to notice the sand didn't ever stay in the same place.
Mocha felt happy and at peace for the first time in awhile. Nothing seemed like it could bother her and as she closed her eyes, enjoyed the coffee and strawberries, she could feel her worries melting away. Sliding away like the coolness of the desert night. Mocha had a lot of work as a new student and the first was finding a weapon. She made a promise to herself that within time she would make everything fall right into place.

"It's very hot outside...Look at the sun..." Andrew had woken up that morning, somewhere in the dessert. Having convinced himself that the desert was special, and probably had somewhere to fish, he set out into it the day before. The Weapon traveled for that whole day, until he became too tired to handle it any longer. Like usual, he fell asleep where he stopped walking. Brushing off the sand, he began to walk back towards Death City.
His walk was a fairly curious one. Noticing the small lizards, and random rock formations that seemed to make a bigger picture. It was all incredibly interesting to him. The sand floated around the air, and its shifting was graceful, as if it were dancing...Dancing just for him.
While he was alone, he wasn't lonely. He had his fish charms to talk to, and they were usually all the company that he needed. Maybe one day he'd have some other friends, or even a partner. He hadn't really though about it all too much though, did it matter? As a matter of fact, the Weapon hadn't even shown up to the school yet.
"Which way...Is Death City?"
Andrew thought he had been going in the right direction, but he hadn't reached it yet. That couldn't be good. Given that, the Weapon also had his hair in his eyes...It might help if he didn't. Brushing his hair a little to the side, under his practically glued on fishing hat, he peered off a little bit. At first he thought that he was hallucinating. Something this good couldn't be true. A young girl was sitting there...With a bowl of strawberries. He wasn't hungry...He could care less about his stomach, but the fact that there was fruit! Fruit was something he hadn't had...Since he came to Death City. There weren't many trees for it, and Andrew hating spending money on something so trivial...When he could catch anything that he wanted to eat.
Andrew walked up the girl, and squatted down, right across from her. The Weapon looked from the bowl of strawberries, to the girl, and then scratched his chin. The incredibly tall boy, seemed awkward in his position. His knees seemed as if they would reach his nose, normally, however he had his back arched, with his chest over his knees.
"Yo."

Mocha enjoyed herself quietly , and small lizard as joined her. Sun bathing on the rock it looked peaceful and quiet even with it's rainbow scales. Mocha watched the lizard, count every breath it took. She slid another ripe strawberry into her mouth. It tasted really sweet and she wasn't so sure it had been the best in the batch. She wrinkled her nose against the taste and she chased it down with some coffee. She didn't even notice that man walking through the sand closer to her. Mocha blinked against the sun as it raised farther above her, but again it wasn't what she was watching. The rainbow lizard it's head towards her than scuttled off burying itself into the sand.
Mocha gave a little huff as her companion ran off. She pulled her arms closer to her body and popped another red berry into her mouth. She turned to find a boy in front of her, and let out a high-pitched scream of shock and fear. It sounded like a small dog after being stepped on than a screaming girl. She pushed back against the rock with her hands only to slide back and hit the sand hard. The bowl had bounced up and now landed back on the rock between Mocha's legs. The few last strawberries landed back in their place.
Mocha on was not so okay though. She pulled her hands over her face, her breaths quick and short. She shook her head side to side frantically through the sand. Lodging it in her messy crimson hair. She pulled her legs closer to her managing not to disturb her bowl of lovely berries. She dug her fingers into her hair, knotting them around the white barrettes. Her breathing wasn't getting any better and she only got more frantic as the seconds passed.

Andrew looked down at his fish charms, and tried to figure out what the girl was doing. She seemed to be afraid of him, or rather he had surprised her. This wasn't good...He didn't mean to make her freak out like that. Again he looked at his charms.
"What...Do I do?" The Weapon knew that the charms couldn't really respond, but he figured that an idea might come to his head. They girl pulled her legs away from her strawberries...They must be pretty important to her. So that they wouldn't get kicked or anything, he moved them to a rock away from her...Resisting the temptation, of taking one of them.
"That's pretty nice...Lettin' 'em get kicked wouldn't have been good..."
As for the girl herself, he wasn't sure what to do. Patting the sand a bit, he looked at her. She seemed really upset. All he wanted was a strawberry, and now she seemed to be having some sort of attack. The Weapon moved a little farther away from her.
"I didn' mean to scare ya...I was just tryin' to see if you'd share that fruit with me...My name's Andrew...I'm a student of Shibusen. I don't really know the way back to Death City...I'm sorry for scarin' ya...I was just excited to see a person."
His speech pattern was slightly strange, but it was something that most people wouldn't notice about him. Talking wasn't really his favourite activity, and meeting new people was kind of rare. The girl still seemed to be having some issues...So Andrew just sat, and waited. If she needed help...then he wasn't sure what he could do.

Mocha fought for a second to get her breathing under control. She was probably scaring the guy. She could hear his voice but she hadn't paid attention to his words. It was all a blur as she rolled herself over and pushed up against the sand. Her fingers pushed down into the sand, creating an indent of her tiny fingers. Mocha's breathing wasn't exactly right, but it didn't sound frantic anymore. She pulled one hand away from the sand to push her bangs up so she now could see the boy that had scared her. Properly. Sand fell from her hair, and it looked like she had bathed in sand for a week.
He had just been excited and she freaked out. She waved her hands frantically in front of her wave and shook her head. “No I-it was m-my fault! I s-shouldn't of freaked out, I-i just didn't ex-expect anybody to b-be out here.” Mocha looked up at him. She pulled her feet under her so she was sitting properly. Her hands were kept tightly together in her lap. She kept her eyes on her lap, too embarrassed to look up at him.
“I c-can show you the wa-way back. I go to the sch-ool too.” Her voice skipped more under her fear. She was afraid he was gonna be mad she had freaked out, or tease her about her voice. She chewed on her lip, and she knew it would only make her lips more chapped. More red and painful, but it was a hard habit to break. It was like a comfort blanket, like her kitten key-chain.

She seemed to be calming down, and this made Andrew feel better. He really didn't want to scare her. Covered in sand, and still shaking a bit, she seemed kind of like a small, scared animal. The Weapon really wanted to make her feel better, but he wasn't sure how to approach her.
He saw that she was waving her hands, and was apologizing for her actions. That wasn't even necessary, he was the one who scared her. The girl sat normally now, and she was looking down. Was she embarrassed or something? Andrew didn't really know how to respond to that, but again...He wanted to help out.
“I c-can show you the wa-way back. I go to the sch-ool too.”
That confirmed it for him, and he was pretty happy that he had met her. At least she was better with directions, and he could possible make a friend from this encounter. Sand was still all over her, and she was biting her lip.
"Um...I can..."
He scooted closer to her, and tried to softly brush the sand off of her. The girl would most likely see this approach as hostile, but he wanted to make sure that she was okay. While it was true that Andrew himself was usually covered in dirt, he wasn't sure how she would feel about it.
"My name's Andrew Fischer...I'm a Demon Weapon..."
He really hoped that she would respond, instead of what she had done before. Standing up, and grabbing the bowl of strawberries he had set aside, he thought about the reason he had walked over. Though, it would probably be rude to take some, without asking. Instead of bothering her anymore, he held the bowl out to her, his fish charms jingling in the process.

Mocha was surpised as he began brushing the sand off of her. Her head bobbed upward to look at him, but she let him brush the sand off her. He didn't seem very clean himself, so she wondered why he wanted to help her. She figured it as a kind gesture, as he randomly than got up to walk away she followed him with her eyes to find he was grabbing her bowl of strawberries that had been moved by some mysterious force. When he came back and handed her the bowl. Mocha responded. “Oh I-i see. I'm Mocha Koori, I'm a Mei-Meister.” Her eyes followed his bracelets, they were pretty. She wondered why a boy would wear a bunch of braclets with charms. Well until she noticed the fishes, with a wild guess helped by his hat, she figured he really liked to fish.
Mocha brushed of her hands away from the bowl. She didn't want anybody eating sand, that was gross. After she was satisfied with her hands she grabbed a couple strawberries and held them out to the boy. She wondered if he liked strawberries at all. She wanted to be nice to the boy, she had freaked out on him. Mocha wanted to make sure he wasn't hungry either. She had no idea how long he had been lost, and if it had been awhile, he was sure to be hungry.
Mocha Hadn't been here very long at all, and she was hoping to make a friend. Than as a plus he was a weapon. She promised herself she was gonna make things fall into their perfect places like a puzzle. Well the first piece in that puzzle is to find a partner, and she really hoped she had just find him. Well he found her and than she freaked out actually. He seemed nice enough, even though he was tall, and his hair color kind of freaked her out, he seemed like he would make a nice friend. Mocha silently prayed he didn't have a partner yet.

The boy looked at her, and was waiting to see if she would freak out again. When she didn't, he figured that earlier it was just out of surprise. The girl had looked at him, and this made him blush a little bit. It was kind of awkward, but he was just happy that she let him help out.
“Oh I-i see. I'm Mocha Koori, I'm a Mei-Meister.”
A Meister...That was wonderful. Not only did she have food, but she was a Meister as well. This would be pretty great. She didn't seem like much of a fighter, nor did she seem like she would be a mean person. She would be perfect for his Meister...Though she probably wouldn't agree. Somehow...He'd have to convince her.
"Mocha, eh? That's a pretty name..."
Then...He saw something amazing. The girl brushed off her hands, and held out a couple of strawberries to him. This was amazing. He bowed to her, and slowly took each of them, stuffing them into his mouth. Each one of the sweet, and juicy strawberries seemed to explode on his tongue. This was truly amazing, and he was grateful that she had shared with him. After chewing and swallowing them, he put out his hand, and patted her head.
"Thanks..."
He was wondering why she was out here. It was strange for anyone to come out to the desert like this, without a reason. The girl seemed to be almost as strange as him, and various other people he had met on his travels. At least she was being nice to him. Maybe the could be friends...That's what Andrew was hoping. Not entirely sure where they would be going from here, he stood still, and waited. She said she knew the way...Though he was secretly hoping that there would be a delay. That way they could get to know each other better.

Mocha smiled sweetly as he complimented her name. A lot of people said her name was weird, but living in japan that's what your gonna get. Social norms were kinda turned on. She had her friends though and that's alright. As Andrew ate the strawberries Mocha grinned and giggled. This was nice, she was glad she crawled out of bed this morning. Weather she looked like the grudge or not. She reached for her coffee only to find something had pushed it over. Mocha frowned for a second before shrugging it off. Oh well, maybe she would get another one later. That would be expensive to keep buying Coffee, maybe she would save up and buy one of the really good coffee makers.
She looked back at him and smiled again. “Your welcome,” Mocha had just done something amazing. She hadn't tripped over one single word. Though she had only said two words she was surprised and shocked herself. It had been extremely hard but she did it. She pulled herself from her momentary shock. “W-wow.” Well that hadn't lasted long.
Mocha looked at the boy again, he was standing now. Mocha quickly shifted to stand up, the sand puffing up around her feet as she almost fell over. She wouldn't be surprised if she still fell after standing up. Mocha grabbed the the fallen Styrofoam cup and looked over at the boy. Mocha curiously watched him as the breeze picked up and played with her messy scarlet hair. Picking it up and pulling at it, attempting to pry it apart from it's locked together mess.

Andrew saw the look on the girls face, and became curious. The Weapon wondered if he had done something to make her smile like that. It couldn't have been because of him. Andrew noticed that she had looked down at something and frowned. There was a coffee cup there, and he wondered if it was his fault. He had probably knocked it over. This discourage him, but he decided it wasn't something to be upset about.
She looked back at him, and smiled, and said. “You're welcome”. For some reason she had a look of shock, as if something had surprised her in that split second. She was a very confusing girl...Andrew looked around for a moment, trying to see if there was something strange. Though while he found nothing, she continued again with a “W-wow”.
”Is there something w-?”
Before he could finish what his question, she stood up, and it seemed as if she was going to fall. Andrew's reflexes kicked in, and he attempted to stop her from falling, but she seemed to balance herself out on her own. She seemed to be watching him, as the wind blew her hair around. That strange, scarlet hair. It was similar to his own, in the sense that you would look twice at it...Something he disliked admitting. In his opinion...It was really cute. Especially how tangled, and messy it seemed. However, this wasn't the time to sit, and day dream about hair. It was about time to get back to Death City.
“I don' want ya to fall...”
Trying to find the easiest way to carry out this task, he stepped to the side of her, and lifted her from underneath her legs, and hand his other arm position firmly under her back. This way she wouldn't end up hurting herself on the way back. He didn't know why, but he already felt pretty protective of her. Whether it was how frail she seemed, or because she had been so nice to him, he just felt like he had to protect her.
“Tell me where to go...Boss”
Andrew was unsure why he had added this last part, but it felt right. He didn't really have anyone at this school yet, and he was pretty sure that he wanted her as his Meister. If she wanted him, and if this was the case, then that would make her his boss. Andrew had no problem with this.

Oops, Mocha muttered in her head as she realized she had confused him. “Sorry, i-it's just that I ha-ve a problem with s-stuttering.” Mocha explained. She never really expected it to get better but that's alright. “I don' want ya to fall...” Mocha was about to tell him she would be alright. Well she was pretty sure she would still ended up falling, but he didn't need to help her. Before she could speak though and was lifting her up. Mocha let out a small eep, ad her face turned redder than her hair. She held tightly onto the bowl.
Mocha blinked up at him. Confused momentarily as her mind drew a blank, than she lifted her hand up. “Th-that way.” She said softly lifting her hand up and pointing back the way she had come from. She still couldn't believe that he was still holding her. She pulled her body in tight as she watched him from below. Her face bright red, she had never been held by a boy before. Sure her brother gave her piggy back rides but this was different.
She wanted to stop watching him, it was weird. Her eyes were glued on him though, and she was freaking out mentally. She was kind of afraid that she would get them lost now, or that he was gonna think she was some kind of freak, No! She wouldn't let that happen, She couldn't! He was gonna be her weapon, she had no body else to partner up with. If she was gonna prove her brother wrong she needed to get a weapon and there was one right here! So why couldn't she asked him?

Andrew continued to carry her, and wondered where it was from here. She explained that she had a problem with stuttering, and he nodded at this. That would be a problem...He had speech issues himself. It's not like he would make fun of her. The girl also had let out a little sound when he picked her up. She was really a strange one, and he kind of liked it.
“Th-that way.”
He looked down so that he could see where she was pointing, and noticed that her face was red. Maybe she was really hot. If that was the case, then he'd need to get out of the desert pretty fast. Trying to make sure that she didn't have a fever or anything, he placed his hand on her forehead. It was kind of warm, but like he had thought earlier, they were in the desert.
“Are you sick...Your face is red...”
The boy looked down at the girl when he asked, but he immediately looked back up. He didn't want to mess up where he was going, because he'd seem stupid. She probably wouldn't want a stupid Weapon. The problem was, why wasn't he asking her to be his partner? There wasn't really anything hard about that at all. As a matter of fact.
“M-Mocha...Would ya' be my Meister?”

Mocha turned her face away quickly as he looked down at her. “F-fine.” She said softly as she tried not to turn her face back to him. Her heart was beating so fast she was ready for him to ask her what that thumping noise was. It felt like it was in her throat and she couldn't swallow. She mentally slapped herself, she was sixteen and acting like a child. Shouldn't she be able to be more mature about this? Than her she could swear he just asked to be her weapon. Her fast quickly turned back to him, and she could feel the color melt off her face.
She starred up at him with unblinking crimson eyes. Her face as pale as her white barrettes. She was supposed to make all the right puzzle pieces to call into place. Yea of course, but she had never expected them to come flying at her face in the form of a boy with shorts and hat. No she hadn't expected that at all. Who knew skipping her frosty flakes and cartoons one morning would get her a partner!
Her color was coming back as she began to nod quickly making her scarlet bangs bounce up and down. “O-of course!” Mocha smiled happily. This was gonna work out all right. She had a partner, and now she could work on getting stronger! She was gonna work hard to be better than everybody else. She needed to be good enough to make her brother realize just how wrong he was about her.

He continued walking in the direction she had pointed, and realized that in she had turned from him. Then...Her face had turned white. Maybe she was sick. Instead of wasting her time with conversation, he continued to walk in that direction. Getting out of the desert was again, probably priority. She could answer him later.
“O-of course!”
Or she could answer him right now. The Weapon looked down at her, and smiled. Even in the blazing sun, that still seemed to be laughing at him, he was feeling incredibly cool. The girl that he had thought, might not even have any interest in him, actually wanted to partner up. Though, pondering this would have to hold off for a bit.
They didn't have much longer to walk, and the shifting sands seemed to be in the far distance from where they were. This would be the last time that Andrew went out to the desert, and actually slept there. Or so he hoped. Reaching what he knew as civilization, he set down the girl, and smiled again. Her answer hadn't just been yes...It had been "Of course", as if there was never supposed to be doubt. This truly warmed him up inside.
"What should we do from here?"
He hoped that she would say something like, "Find a good place to fish", but that was asking for a little too much. The girl really did seem to be kind of frail, but she had such a bright look about her. It was as if the world could send all the darkness possible at her, and she'd just shine her light right through it. Though...Andrew didn't know if it was just how he felt personally, or not. Either way, this girl would be his partner, and that's something he didn't want to lose.

Mocha's feet were placed against the ground and she was happy to have soild ground under her feet. Nothing felt hollow under her feet, and no air touched their bottoms. Sand trickled from her hair, reminding her she should shower when she got home. She would need to take out all the barrettes out though, that was time costly and would take awhile. Her shoulders burned and already had turned a pale red. Her eyes slowly traveled to take in the world around her. Life was beginning to stir in death city. She shifted the empty bowl in her arms. What was there to do in a town surrounded by a barren desert.
“I'm up for any-thing” Mocha said slowly, she hadn't been here long and couldn't think of anything really interesting to do. Her mind slowly traveled among things but she kept drawing blanks. She wondered about her new partner. Where had he come from, what was his story? One thing bugged her the most, how old was he? Her small stature was dwarfed beside his, making her feel like a child again. She had to crane her neck all the way back to look up at him. She wondered how funny this must look to others.
Mocha rocked back and forth on her feet, humming softly out of instinct. It really was hot out here, she wasn't very used to it. She knew she would have some sunburns on her, she hated dealing with them. It made it hurt to do almost anything. She wondered softly what her big brother would think about her new partner. Her eyes aimlessly wandered up to the sky, Nii-chan can you see me up there? Are you proud of me? She bit her lips out of habit, and one hand wandered to grab the key-chain on her waist.
