Is there a word for a feeling beyond dumbfounded? Because that's what Vespera needed right now to describe how she felt. Flabbergasted, maybe? All the books in the world and she couldn't find the right word to not only describe how she was feeling, but what she made of this incredibly peculiar man. He seemed very absent-minded. Did she really want to work for someone like that? She was starting to feel somewhat insulted that this guy had already forgotten what she was there for.
On the other hand, her intuition, mainly from reading too many stories, was putting forth another possibility: This man could be so intelligent that he's multitasking his brain to the point where he simply seems absent-minded but is actually running through so many thought processes. Then the implication of that hit her. Was she just an insect to him...? Something not worth noting or paying attention to? She lowered her head in contemplation for what seemed like an eternity, but really it was just a few moments before Sai spoke up.
"We want to work under you. Clean up, rearranging... Whatever. How about it?"
Vespera could tell that Sai was a nice person, including both of them in that statement. She actually blushed just a little, and very briefly, but something else came across her mind: What if there was only one position available? Would she be able to win out? Would she want to after Sai was being so nice here? She felt like she was being selfish here... so it was best to just wait and see what happened when it came to the number of positions.
"Right, what he said. We're looking for jobs. I spend a lot of time reading books so this place really suits me..." she said, raising her now-clear face.

"And... I hope you don't mind if I say this, but... I'm a bit stuck in these pile of books, so could any of you guys help me out of here, please...?"
He nodded down with his chin acting as a make-shift pointer down at the dome of books. The meister attempted to wiggle out, but the massive weight of each text and the numbers they had, he could not get out of the mound.
"...And I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I'm Ishida Sai. Meister from Japan. The girl next to me is Vespera Velázquez."
He threw back his head at the girl as if pointing at her while addressing her name.
"...So, uh... What's your name? And... How long has this place been in operation? Just curious."
The teen continued to survey around the store with his head slowly turning around like a camera from a submarine underwater. He still couldn't help, but feel at wonder at how there was so little spacing from the number of shelves scattered around the store. Though, that was amplified by the amount of books scattered around like stars in the sky... Sans the few that decided to create a mound around his person.
Then a worrying thought jolted through his brain.
"...We have to clean this up, don't we...?"
He grimaced at this and held back the need to groan out of exasperation.
"...Well, you'll want to free me from these... Shackles of books to start cleaning this up... I can tell that this will take some time..."
But thinking a bit positively, this might be the only way to get both of them employed. After all, there's no way in hell this individual could reorganize the texts all by himself, could he? Though... Maybe he'd have to hire more people...

As the two students spoke, the strange man simply stood there, wafting his cup of cocoa beneath his nostrils as he inhaled with a distinct expression of blissful vacancy as to their plights and presences. Suddenly, though, he snapped his fingers, "Ah, trés bien, indeed~" he mused as if out of nowhere, taking a quick sip before strolling across towards the young Meister, leaning forward as those strange, misty irises fixed on his face and the man's narrow features splayed themselves into an almost eerie grin. The display would come across as more than a little unnerving, as if the man was somehow peeling back layer upon layer of the boy's surface with his stare, the tension broken only ever so briefly by the act of the thin man sipping at his cup, his pinky outstretched delicately as he did so, "Watoto siku hizi.." he tutted in some foreign tongue, only to spin about and then stride purposefully towards the girl, a stern expression on his face.
"You! Girl! What are your credentials?" he demanded, showing a disturbing shift from his loopy characteristics and turning instead oddly authorative and lucid, before he suddenly rolled his head a half circle, craning his neck a tad, "You love books, yes? Yes? What ones, what ones? Come, come, let's hear why you love them so and what you have to offer the books of this world." Spinning about again, he'd strut right back towards the Meister, walking past him and marching atop the mountain of literature as if there was simply nothing to the act, "And you, boy! What of you? The girl loves books, but why do you want to work here? Have you ever heard of a sensible sort working in a place of the written word? I think not!"
Upon the declaration of 'not', the man would stamp his foot once, and a rubmle would shudder throughout the pile of books.. oddly enough rattling them loose as they slid like a small rolling wave forward, spreading themselves thinner across the floor and relinquishing the body of the boy in turn; leaving him instead up to his knees in hardbacks and pamphlets. The man harrumphed, "The world of words is one of nonsense, I tell you! The nonsense of humanity in all of its wonderful backwards-forwards clockwork - forget all those textbooks that tell you how you're supposed to read a certain way. Have you ever read a book from front to back instead of back to front? Well, I have. Astounding experience, I'll tell you! That I'll most certainly tell you, or else my name isn't Geoffrey Wyllt."
And so, with another harrumph, the man would sip his cocoa and then sigh in a cheerful manner, shifting just as suddenly back to his aloof demeanor as he had to this strange and bizarre lecturing persona, "Now then. You'd be students, I take it? Yes? Yes, you look the student sort. You'll need to arrange your hours with your benefactors, I imagine, but I'm certain we can find a place for you here." and with that, he promptly allowed himself to drop onto his back, sandal-clad feet flopping into the air as he relaxed on his bed of books, and continued to enjoy his cup of piping hot cocoa.

Vespera lit up at the questions being asked, and was suddenly very inspired by this man. She had a huge grin on her face as she listened attentively to his short speech. He got it. He knew perfectly about the literary world, at least by her definition, which was something that came from her own experience in reading anything. Geoffrey Wyllt, huh? Well, Vespera certain felt like this was someone she could trust. How could anyone who understands the "world of words" be anything other than sincere?
"Oh yes, sir! Also, I'm a regular in the Library at school, sometimes I end up helping to keep the place organized just to see what books catch my attention!" she said quickly and excitedly. Then she realized she was getting carried away, and slowed down. "Um... anyway. Reading books really works in with my equal love of music. To me there's nothing like reading something and the PERFECT track comes up at JUST the right moment, like they can feed off of each other. There's a lot of books I like, quite a few I just hate, and some that really help inspire..."
Then Vespera froze and looked out at the mess of books again. She had to look at her hands again just to make sure. She had to check the pockets on her dress too. It was gone. The book she had when she came in was gone. Oh dear. She should have just put the book back in a pocket. Or she could have, you know, brought her purse. Hindsight has struck again.
"Oh dear... that's not good... I seem to have lost the book I came in with. Ugh... I've got no way to prove it's mine either." she said in a timid, defeated tone. Now the doubt started to set in. What if she can't handle this job after all? If she just lost her own book, how could she be responsible for a store full of them?!
Vespera seemed to just be standing there now, completely out of touch with the world around her.

Sai only blinked once the man decided to lean in as if to scrutinize his plain-appearing visage that was the only thing that popped out of the books. The grin his possible future employer had... Was a tad disturbing on his part. A slew of uncomfortable emotions creeped up his spine. What was he trying to divine from him? His past? His skills? The probing eye that man was giving him made him slightly gulp out of instinct.
This individual... There was something about him that made him feel... Alien. As if he wasn't completely human. But what was it...? This sensation felt... Demonic, but at the same time not totally. There was an air of danger and an air of aloofness that seemed to mesh around his potential boss's person. It was something Sai couldn't make out completely, trying to divine which was true or not.
But, the examination was finished and the tense mood disappeared with a simple sip from his tea cup.
"Watoto siku hizi..."
"...Huh?" Sai blinked once more, out of plain confusion of what this individual has just said, "...Was that English...? Or...What? That definitely didn't sound like it."
The meister narrowed his eyes as if scrutinizing what the older individual had mentioned. He cocked his head to the side in temporary thought, attempting to make sense of this.
The world was semi-unavailable to his senses as he tried to come up with a theory, but his eyes caught the skinny figure of the male coming towards him lithely in a strut.
The teen was caught unawares of the sudden movement, "...Wait, wut?!", as he threw himself back to reality.
But it seemed as for naught when he moved past him to simply take his place on top of the mound of texts created from the earlier tsunami.
"And you, boy! What of you? The girl loves books, but why do you want to work here? Have you ever heard of a sensible sort working in a place of the written word? I think not!"
Before Sai could answer, a foot stamp caused the books to rumble and peel away from his person, only to leave his legs covered (knees to feet).
"Uh...Thanks," he uttered awkwardly still being a tad put off by this individual's dramatic, but yet strange actions.
It was obviously Sai's first time to meet someone as him. The drama people back in school... Weren't as outspoken as him. Neither was the student council at the time. Especially using the type of diction as he used.
"...I think I can stomach this,"
He couldn't help, but drop a single drop of sweat at the apprehension of his sanity leaving him by working under such a man.
"That I'll most certainly tell you, or else my name isn't Geoffrey Wyllt."
"...Geoffrey...? Doesn't sound like an American name. Maybe, British...?"
Again as his thoughts wandered around Geoffrey for the while, Geoffrey interrupted them again.
"Now then. You'd be students, I take it? Yes? Yes, you look the student sort. You'll need to arrange your hours with your benefactors, I imagine, but I'm certain we can find a place for you here."
... Sai blinked again. Did he just say yes to their requests for work...? Despite all the bravado his employer was excluding in his little impromptu speeches, supposedly it was something to be expected after all. Yet, that didn't stop the meister from slightly shaking out of mere happiness.
But, being as the calm individual that he is, Sai stopped and grinned a little.
"Thank you, sir," he bowed down at his new boss, "We'll let you know when we get the appropriate schedules. By the mean time... Would you be kind to provide us the phone number for this place?"
The teen took out his cellphone and flipped it open.
"...Of course, I'd also let you know mine as well..."

The peculiar man raised his free hand into the air, weaving it about like he was conducting some alien and bizarre orchestra on the ceiling, even beginning to hum along a tune that sounded both completely foreign and new, and yet completely familiar. And then he began to whistle.. a strange, marvelling whistling tune that sounded like.. strange as it may be, if one could imagine what rubies would sound like if they whistled, then without a doubt then that's what this strange bookstore owner's whistle would indeed sound like. And the tune was equally strange, the same as before, but imbued with a greater sense of nostalgia and foreign peculiarity for the ruby-whistling backing it - a song that started with hello and ended in goodbye and rolled back to the start for a 'hello again' shortly thereafter. "Oh dear... that's not good... I seem to have lost the book I came in with. Ugh... I've got no way to prove it's mine either.""Thank you, sir, we'll let you know when we get the appropriate schedules. By the mean time... Would you be kind to provide us the phone number for this place?""...Of course, I'd also let you know mine as well...""Oh dear.." ..Just who had the strange man been referring to when he had said such a thing? He simply lay there for a while, his whistling interrupted and his mug of cocoa resting on his chest, leaving a small brown ring staining it once he eventually rose to his feet anew and slid off the pile of books with a soft smile and that same sense of strange and bizarre whim in his voice, "My dearies, there is a simple solution to both these dilemmas; for you, miss girl-with-the-complex-about-her-presentabilities, 'tis simple as can be! My store has taken a book from you, so take one back. Consider it a fair trade, hm?" he smiles and swirled his mug around a few times, before taking a sip, and then glided across on his sandal'd feet towards the boy next.. "..I have no phone, good sirrah, but by all means do not take that as instigation to go poking me for it, mh?" He flashed a knowing look towards the youth and then strode forth, "Ah, but as you are students.. yes, yes, I think that'll do nicely," he suddenly marched over to one of the bookcases that still hadn't toppled over, and proceeded to land a firm, flat-footed stomp on it, causing those remaining books to topple down on top of him, before he walked forth carrying about a dozen books, somehow balancing in a precarious totem of literature in one hand while the other still held the surprisingly still-safe mug of cocoa, "I believe that your school's library had put in an order for these. If you two could be so kind as to deliver them on my behalf, I would take it as a grand first impression."

Vespera found something incredibly intimidating about this man. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but it was less of the threatening kind and more one that exudes authority. Something about the way he carried himself made him seem unapproachable; in fact, it kind of reminded her of the feeling she gets from Shinigami. To be fair, she's had about as much direct contact with Shinigami at this point as she's had with Mr. Wyllt here. His manner of speaking, too...
"My dearies, there is a simple solution to both these dilemmas; for you, miss girl-with-the-complex-about-her-presentabilities,"
"Wha...?!" she exclaimed, not even getting to respond, not that she could as utterly flabbergasted as she was. How in the world did he already pick up on that?! It was going to drive her crazy for all of the two seconds it would take for the man to finish his sentence.
"'tis simple as can be! My store has taken a book from you, so take one back. Consider it a fair trade, hm?"
"Oooooo, yes, that sound quite fair!" she said, putting her hands together as her eyes widened with excitement. She started looking all around, even though browsing this would be a total mess.
"I believe that your school's library had put in an order for these. If you two could be so kind as to deliver them on my behalf, I would take it as a grand first impression."
"Right away! Come on, Ishida." she said, grabbing half the books from the stack. It had occurred to her that she could just look for a replacement book when the got back, seeing as how they would still likely be helping clean up the store from the book tsunami. There was no way this guy could have everything back on the shelves by the time they got back, right?

He stared expectantly at his new employer while still holding his cellphone in hand. But Geoffrey was simply lying there sampling his mug of cocoa, while still enjoying the music which passed through the shelves. Sai waited patiently for the man to finish humming enjoyably as he stood there with cellphone in hand. And it paid off once the strange individual finally got up.
Addressing the two students, Vespera first, "My dearies, there is a simple solution to both these dilemmas; for you, miss girl-with-the-complex-about-her-presentabilities, 'tis simple as can be! My store has taken a book from you, so take one back. Consider it a fair trade, hm?"
Then at Sai, after moving towards his dark-themed person, "..I have no phone, good sirrah, but by all means do not take that as instigation to go poking me for it, mh?"
No... Phone...? the meister couldn't believe his ears. The hell? How does he expect to run this place without one? Could he be this archaic than thought...?
Before the teen could respond to Geoffrey's answer, it would seem as if he'd be assigned to a delivery job with Vespera. Looking at how the man received the two books he was looking for.
"...Does he have a few screws loose...?" he thought to himself with blatant disbelief at his actions.
Resist to palm face... Resist... Resist... Resist...
A jerky smile spread on his expression.
SUCCESS
"I believe that your school's library had put in an order for these. If you two could be so kind as to deliver them on my behalf, I would take it as a grand first impression."
Just as Sai would open his mouth to address the older male, he was interrupted again with Vespera already taking half of the stock of books for delivery.
"Right away! Come on, Ishida."
The teen held his mouth open, as if frozen in time. But, he resigned, closing his mouth after heaving a sigh.
"Whatever," he simply muttered.
The boy simply took the remaining half-dozen with him before giving a disapproving look at his employer. With the door in the way, he opened it by the knob and kicked it out of the way so he could get through... Disappearing with Vespera.
