It was simple really, but at the same time a little alien for Sai. Saturday. The seventh day of the week before the arrival of Sunday, the new week. Alien being that it's a day of no school like Sunday. Strange. Japanese schools include Saturday as another day for classes. But the U.S. decides otherwise for their own educational centers. Whether it's a clash of belief or not, the boy needed this day of rest.
The previous events has been rather... Nerve-wracking, yet satisfying as his survival was the proof of his own physical and mental growth against all odds. Though he agrees that the events have threatened his life at least twice so far. A little bit too much action for him on his part. It was a first for the teen to fight individuals belonging in a completely different world he belonged in. The overbearing punks in the streets of the night back at home feel so little now...
Almost as if they were nothing, but simple cockroaches in comparison to the enemies he combated before. Experience was what those guys had, as well as special abilities which made it so troublesome. The rush... The danger... It was so different... Something Sai couldn't truly explain with his level of vocabulary at the moment.
"So this is the world of DWMA, huh...?" his thoughts pondered and examined on the prior events.
Depressing, it was at one angle of perspective. The fact he was forced to combat such evils with his life at risk. He expected that, but to have experienced this more personally didn't make him feel any better. The rent was getting ever more stressful on his psyche. It took all his willpower to restrain himself from applying Soul Purge on the pudgy landlord on the constant and annoying reminders.
The meister took a deep breath as if trying to breathe out the evil effects of life. He didn't feel as stressful, but only by a degree at least. Not enough, a walk would be needed. Perhaps train? No, the constant physical ritual was feeling a bit redundant so far. He wanted to try something new for once...
Moving out of his "humble" abode, Sai peered around the city. The heat wasn't as hot as usual... Surprisingly, it became tolerable. So, does that mean he finally became a real citizen of Death City? Probably. But this could be the first step for it though.
After some musing of such, he continued walking down the streets, touring again to see if there's anything worthwhile hanging around at... However, fate would have it that his silent and restful day would be ruined by what his eyes caught on... A number of hoodlums seemed to huddle around a young girl with noticeable blue-hued hair and a cross necklace. The shorts she wore along with the long shirt which accentuated her slightly endowed chest gave her an appearance in which some people would call "jailbait".
Which easily can be seen the reason why these scum were herding around her with slightly lecherous faces... Sai wasn't really one to be a hero frankly... But damn, it wouldn't do well for his conscious to leave a lamb with a pack of dirty dogs.
Sighing, he walked over to where they were and loudly made his presence clear to them.
"SO!... What do you guys think you're doing...?"

Light would be seen blushing deeply, her face almost completely red. Feeling a bit like an outsider, and seeing people coming towards her, she instictively got ready for a fight. Her arm flashed white and lengthened, forming a teal blade with blue lines. She smiled and the blush dissapeared into just over her nose. She then saw the newcomer and hastened to make a good impression with atleast one person. Her arm went back to regular so that she had to hold up the longer sleeves to cover most of her mouth. In a muffled voice, she talked to the newcomer for some help. "Please, please help me sir....", she would say.

Because of the huddling made by their bodies, Sai couldn't see the scythe partial transformation until the men turned to look at him... Revealing a blade connected to an arm. A slender one to boot. If the meister had a guess whose it is... It would be the girl. In these cases, he would've just stayed back and returned to his own business since the female had something to protect herself with...
However, by the looks of her eyes, she was by no means a timid individual.
"Hey kid, mind your business... This is something between adults..." one of the hoodlums addressed him gruffly.
"...Adults? So, I'm one too? Because she sure looks a bit younger than I am."
The teen crossed his dark sleeved arms watching the group with a mock quizzical visage on his face. Judging by the distaste as a result of what he said, the rest of the hoodlums shared that emotion. The glares which used to be full of perverted lust... Was now slightly irritated by his intrusion.
"Shibusen business kid, bea---"
"I'm also from Shibusen too. EAT class. I'm assuming you're all NOT, seeing that I have never seen you guys in the class before... Or maybe..."
He purposely trailed off for a reason. As if to indicate these guys were the notorious "Traitors". Even with one encounter with them, there were still some of them around harassing a majority of the younger NOT students. They got the point.
These individuals were already adopting darkened expressions on their side from the implications of what Sai is suggesting.
"Well... I don't really want any real trouble, but... You know? Huddling around a solitary girl get the wrong ideas. Besides, it's a nice day. Let's keep it that way."
A moment of silence passed between the two parties. Already, the meister was preparing to flick out his acupuncture needles for instantaneous throwing... His mind was at work whirring up a game plan.
The two in front would be his first targets... He would aim at their eyes. The subtlety and suddenness of his movements would aid the accuracy of getting the needles in there. The last two behind them... The right would be his next. Just as the meister lunge over to the right, there was no doubt he'd also try to turn right... It would be at that case he'd follow up with a swift high kick to the temple using the hoodlum's movement as a blind spot.
The last, was for sure, would go for him... So a simple spinning back kick would do the trick with the sudden change in momentum from the earlier kick. Though the likelihood of a hostage is also great... Meaning, he'd probably opt to grab the girl by the hand and pull her behind him while at the same time delivering a front kick to the solar plexus with a Soul Purge at work. Finishing the fight in a few moments.
But, the real world rebounded back at him with a surprising counter.
"Let's go..."
Sai raised a quizzical eyebrow at what seemed to be the leader of the ragtag group of hoodlums. Hesitantly, they gave one last look at Sai with a glare... But the leadership seemed solid as the four walked away.
"...Well that's new..." the teen was absolutely surprised at how easy it was to avoid the expected conflict...
Now remembering the girl, "You ok?"

Light would seem relieved, both arms covering her mouth still. She walked up towards the newcomer, grateful for his appearance. She held out one hand as to shake hands, though he would only grab cloth because her sleeve was too long. A small smile would be there, a small pout on it though. " Uh.. Erm.... Hey... Mr. Uh.... Sorry sir but I don't know your name... Uh.. Im Light. Light Night... ", she would say. Her feet kind of went together because of a bit of nervousness that she was feeling.

"It's nice to meet you, Light," Sai nodded in a manner that appeared to be a bow of some sort, "Call me Sai. Ishida Sai."
He raised a hand towards her to offer the usual handshake. After completing the common ritual for first meetings, his soul perception was already examining Light's soul... Shy and timid were all he could discern from his level of perception. Just like what her behavior now dictated earlier.
"Hum... Figures," the meister noted silently in his mind, "...Our wavelengths don't differ too much. Maybe..."
After some thoughts circulating in his mind, Sai would then continue.
"I can see from earlier that you're... A Weapon, aren't you?"
The question was needless, but yet still necessary to keep a conversation going.
"Keeping that in mind... Do you have a partner?"
He knew it was more than likely she'd have one by now. Ever since his enrollment in Shibusen, the meister was easily hard-pressed to find a suitable Weapon these days... Almost as if they were out of stock. But this girl here... Light, here, would probably be the closest he could ever get for now if she was available.
"If not..." Sai started to lead on to the next step, "You wouldn't mind partnering up with me for now? At least until we find someone more suitable? I mean... We both need partners to fight together with, right?"
"Come to think of it... I don't really know your Weapon form, but... The blade that transformed... Are you a Scythe Weapon?"

Light would be shocked that this man would even consider her to be a partner. She didn't have a weilder at the moment, but nonetheless she was surprised that anyone would want to try and battle with her. Nodding slightly, she had her arms back over her mouth, a blush just over her nose.
" Y-yes... I am a Scythe Demon Weapon.. "she would say. " No one has decided to try and be my weilder, but then again, I don't think anyone will. Your the first person who has talked to me here. Can you be my permanent Meister, please..? ", she would ask, her face turning a pale pink.
She didn't really like begging people to help her, but this was an exception. She liked this boy in front of her, for he did not try to take advantage of her. A slight smile could be seen, even from behind the protection of her veil of sleeves, and a small giggle would emit from her mouth as she awaited his reaction, turning a deeper shade of pink from her own reaction.

She seemed awfully surprised from his proposal. It was somewhat predictable from someone of her type, a feeling in which Sai had. After listening from what she had to say, it was verified that she is a Demon Scythe Weapon. Great. More reasons for the partnership to be temporary. Scythe weapons, Sai handled them before in his ninjutsu training... But not like the large great scythes used by some Meisters. Rather, the type of scythes hat are more handheld.
With all this in mind, the meister would have directly voiced his opinion... But thing is, Light is one of the type of people who look entirely innocent and easily put down by a few "hurtful" words. The teen is in a dilemma... To tell or not to tell... That is the question.
But as much of a dilemma it kinda is... In heavy contrast, it didn't seem so as he soon attempted to explain to her.
"Well..." he hesitated with his face adopting an expression of difficulty, "Thing is... I'm not really the best meister you should really partner up with for your weapon type... I'm not that used to bigger scythes like you..."
The teen slightly gritted his teeth as if flinching at each sentence he uttered, continuing, "I really appreciate your wish for me to be your permanent partner. I really do... But, it would be in your best interest that... We would be a temporary partnership until we both find very suitable partners. Though if we continue our relationship to be like this while we still don't find a good partner to pair up with... We might actually end up together permanently. Does that sound good?"
He made a poor attempt to grin to reassure her. Of course, he can grin like any other person... But, for some reason, he had to force it...

Light would nod, the smile still there. She didn't care much for his words, due to the fact that she had already predicted what the response would be. The only response would be in her eyes, which would look down because of the let down. Looking back up, she decided that his statement deserved a response.
" I expected as much... Well, thanks. I hope you find a better partner in the meanwhile. I don't think we would correspond as much, anyway. Well, I will try and find one just as you will, hopefully it would be someone that lasts... ", she would say.
Turning around abruptly, she sat on the steps, now trying to train her abilities while continuing to talk to the boy.
" You do understand.. The harder part is being the weapon, not the controller. I mean, we have to transform, and we also have to take the hits.. But that's my opinion anyway, sir. "
She would look at his face for any sign of a change of emotion.

Sai adopted a rueful expression as he noticed the girl was giving off an aura of sadness. Rarely was he really bothered by something like this because it was a first time he dealt with a person such as Light. It was frankly... Troublesome. He bared his teeth slightly showing the discomfort of his actions dealt on the Weapon. But, there wasn't really much anything else he could say or do though...
It does seem the duo has reached a consensus from what she said. Watching her going up on the steps and then spout out some more dialogue. But what she said, he had to disagree on that part. Though on some situations, yes, he had to agree she was right. But how addressed him with a "sir" caused him a little more irritation from the fact it bothered him as well.
"...Not so true," Sai cautiously and hesitantly stated his the fact, "I know you say it's your opinion... But right now I just want to reiterate the facts... Forgive me..."
He paused for her to understand and then continued "Weapons have a much durable make and destructive capability. So rarely do they really feel or take any damage from enemy attacks honestly... But I did hear there are some times where Weapons do get hurt even in their forms... However, in general, the likelihood of that really isn't that high."
The teen paused again and waited for her reaction. But before she could say anything, he sighed out of resignation and gave a one sided grin at his new temporary partner. His social awkwardness didn't really help him after all.
Sai decided to end with a better note, "Well despite all that... Light, I can only say that we can only do our best to fight together. I will trust you with my life. And you will trust yours with me. After all... That is what our partnership should be about in Shibusen, am I right?"
He paused and then added, "Oh and... I'm not that much older than you... So you don't have to call me "sir". Just call me Sai."

Light would shake her head slightly, not disagreeing with his side of the argument, but disagreeing with the whole "Sir" thing. She thought that he sounded better referred to as "Sir".
" I agree with you on the weapon's charge, but please, let's discuss that Sir thing. You seem like a Sir to me. Seriously.... But you need a beard and a moustache. You'll look cool... ",she would say to him. " Also, don't you think it's time that we start to train..? If we don't correspond with each other, I was told that we won't be able to fight.... "
Light would get up, and as she did, she would grin at him, actually not holding her arms to her mouth but she did keep them tucked in together. Finally getting up from her seat, she started to walk over to him, expecting the answer to be yes.

This girl... Really, Sai found himself not only a shy and timid partner. But a peculiar one as well. It now became another reason for him to move on to another partner...
"...Cool?" the meister found himself a taken back from what she stated earlier about the mustache and beard.
Cool is never a word that ever describes Sai. Never. By every means, no one has ever stated this "trait" at him. After all, nothing really stands out. So how could Light deduce he is... cool, as she says? Whatever went on her mind, the meister will probably never know. Or may be he would rather not know.
But as of now, the Japanese didn't have an interest for it.
"...I don't see how you think I'm... "Cool". Honestly, I'm just your run-of-the-mill guy out of Japan. Even there, nobody found me "cool" either."
"But seriously, just call me Sai. The Sir thing bothers me..." he frowned slightly, showing his discomfort of it, hopefully making his point.
"And training huh...?" he murmured thoughtfully as she mentioned about it.
Given that she was a Weapon that Sai wasn't used to. Perhaps it's probably the best option to head over the Park and find the usual secluded place to test out her "specs" one would say. Of course, the bonding is still important. Perhaps a few trips to some of Death City's hotspots for some conversation and recreational activities would do nicely...
"...Wait a minute, why do I feel like I'm setting up a date with someone younger than me..." the meister suddenly thought with uncertainty, which is masked by his thoughtful visage.
Apprehension welled up, but disappeared as he blinked, dismissing the useless thoughts.
"Sure," Sai finally answered simply, "Why don't we head over to the Park? I want to try you out in your Weapon form. Just want to get used to you at least."

Light would seem disgruntled, apparently taken aback because he seemed to not hear that word often. Her mind was immediately taken away from that because he mentioned training. She guessed that his plans for her were short so she decided to get as much close ranged combat in as possible before she was switched again, therefore not to make a bad impression on her soon-to-be new owner.
" Okay.. As I stated before, I am new here, so could you direct us to the Park..? I am kind of stumped... You should probably know though, so good luck with that, I will just follow you. ", she would say, and putting her arms up to block her face again, she would start to walk closer to him, ready to follow.

Ishida nodded in response to what she said at last. Though he felt a little bit glad that even the girl can exhibit an expression of being displeased on her part. It showed she was someone who wasn't completely fragile on her emotions and have the offender feel immensely guilty about it. As a result, he felt more comfortable and calmer in his stance.
Her mentioning about being new... He was a tad puzzled how she seemed normal in the midst of Death City's warm climate situated in the middle of a desert, for Christ's sakes. Perhaps she's from an equally warm region. If so, may be more from the South...?
She didn't look Mexican... Her skin seemed a tad pale at an angle. It was confusing to pinpoint where she'd be from. However, it's not really important at hand right now. He deemed he could ask later in the future.
"Well then," addressing her as she was going to follow him, "Let's go."
He turned and started to walk while looking back a bit whether she was following... (Short post... It's a bit late, but eh... I want to move on to the next thread.) Moving on thread to here: Getting Used To
