Some of the observant members may have picked up that the Mission Rewards Guide makes mention of discounts that can be earned for Training RPs. This thread will explain Training RPs in brief and how you get that tasty 5, 15, or 45 percent off an Ability purchase.[/i]: 5% discount
Training RPs come in two flavors: those run by a staff member / senior roleplayer, and those you run yourself. They follow difficulty levels similar to Missions yet have their own specific rules.
Training RPs at this level can be fairly simple affairs. You are allowed to RP on your own or with others so long as your characters are engaged in activities that would reasonably help them improve in some way leading up to gaining the Ability. For instance, an Ability focused on strength would have the character working out; a soul or magic Ability might involve meditation, "soul diving", doing extensive research, or sticking their hand in a jar. The activity, whatever it is, must match the Ability for the training to be accepted. If training solo in a single post, the word count must be no less than 700 words; if collaborative, a ten post minimum is expected. When the training RP is complete contact a Quest Master (or higher-tier staff member) to review the thread; if the thread is sufficient, the QM / staff will award anywhere between a 1% and 10% discount based on the quality of the training effort.
Lv4 Training RPs: 15% discount
At this point a training RP must be run in the same fashion as a full-on Mission. Members looking to train their characters at this level should post a Mission Request including the Ability to be trained and any preferences for training aspects. The member who agrees to coordinate the Mission can, of course, make alterations if they desire. Lv4 training RPs should be goal-oriented affairs with at least a little plot and enough difficulty to be challenging, no less than twenty quality posts. When the training RP is complete contact a Quest Master (or higher-tier staff member) to review the thread; if the thread is sufficient, the QM / staff will award anywhere between a 10% and 20% discount based on the quality of the training effort.
Lv5 Training RPs: 45% discount
Lv5 training RPs are basically the same as Lv4, although with higher expectations. First, the member requesting the Mission (trainee) is completely at the mercy of the Mission-giver (trainer) in terms of Mission specifics -- they can make requests, but once the Mission begins they must face anything the trainer throws at them in order to get the discount reward. Lv5 training RPs should be goal-oriented affairs with substantial plot and strong difficulty, no less than thirty five quality posts. When the training RP is complete contact a Quest Master (or higher-tier staff member) to review the thread; if the thread is sufficient, the QM / staff will award anywhere between a 30% and 60% discount based on the quality of the training effort.
Lv6 Training RPs: free Ability
Only staff and their Champions can run Lv6 training. What you will face is uncertain, but it WILL test you, hard. The rewards, however, are well worth it...[/ul]
Regardless of the training RP's level, you need to have a full copy of the Ability you're training towards included in your first post (and, for Lv4, Lv5, and Lv6, in your Mission request). Since it hasn't been purchased yet this can be a rough draft of the Ability, open to minor changes and revisions, but shouldn't change drastically, and can not change between the end of the Training RP and when the Ability is purchased. If you simply MUST change it at that point for some reason, contact a staff member. Depending on the degree of change you may be able to keep the discount; if not, the staff member will have half the Points value of the discount added to your account as "payment" for completing the training RP instead.
To use your earned discount(s), simply link to the training threads when you post your purchase. Discounts do stack, but only one Lv2 / Lv3 discount can be applied per purchase. Also, each discount applies to the total remaining Point cost of an Ability; if a player wanted to purchase a Resonance-level Ability (1000 Points) and had two 45% discounts earned from Lv5 training RPs, the first discount would lower the price to 550 (-450 Points) and the second discount to 302 (-248 Points; always round discounts up).[/blockquote]
