Lynn, growing up in a small town with an over protective mother, had never been to the city. This is most likely why the young meister found Death City so, well interesting and different. It was much busier, freer, and larger than what she was used to. She had only been going to Shibusen for a week now and was relatively new here so it felt right to do a bit of exploring around her new home. It was only Death City, what could go wrong?
After school and classes had ended, instead of heading straight to her room, Lynn took a stroll around town to see what there was. She was mostly on the lookout for restaurants, cafes, or just anywhere she could buy food. Lynn may have a large appetite, but she lacked in culinary skills so the young meister was stuck with eating out and microwavable meals. Either way, it didn't hurt to have an idea where everything was. Lynn could have not chosen a better day to explore than today. The sun was shining brightly with barely a cloud in its way, but there was enough wind to stop it from being unbearably hot. Lynn dressed lightly in cargo shorts and a baggy light blue t-shirt with black converse. Her favorite dream catcher pendant hung loosely on a thin cord and swayed back and forth as she walked. Her messy dark brown hair was worn down with a simple black headband to keep her hair out of her red and green eyes.
Sadly the day was ending and the hues of pinks and oranges in the sky foretold that the sun will soon set. She already could not see anything to the right of her due to being blind in that eye. The last thing Lynn would want was to walk aimlessly in the dark trying to find her way home. All at once the street lights flickered on and made the little meister jump a bit. Lynn stopped and took a good look at the street she was on while it was still light in the sky. None of the buildings looked familiar. Lynn turned around and tried to retrace her steps, but this only led her to another unfamiliar street. In other words, she was lost.
"Great, just great," Lynn muttered to herself as she threw her arms up in annoyance. Not only was she lost, but it was already getting dark. She was not particularly afraid of the dark and was confident that she could take on any thug that attacked her, or at least out run them. That didn't stop her from putting her guard up. She has seen enough movies and read enough books to know how easy it is for someone to go missing in a city. Death City might be no Chicago or New York, but one could never be too careful. Even so, Lynn paid more attention to her surroundings looking for some kind of landmark or familiarity that could lead her home. Because of this, Lynn paid no attention to where she was going and walked straight into another person. She fell back onto the pavement onto her back and elbows. She quickly restrained herself from yelling and stood up on her own. She was lost and needed help, so it was not a good idea to piss off someone who could potentially help her.
"Sorry about that. Um, I'm a bit lost. Can you help me?" Lynn asked as she shoved her hands into her pockets. She was never a fan of asking a stranger for directions but knew she has to ask someone. If not Lynn could be wondering the streets till sunrise.

Another day gone by, another day with no success in finding a job. Vespera was wandering around town aimlessly, her head and shoulders hanging in defeat. Maybe she was being too picky about where she wanted to work. More likely it was because she wouldn't go into a place unless it had a help wanted sign, not bothering otherwise. She was walking a bit too slowly thinking about this and feeling sorry for herself, as someone ran right into her, causing her to stumble forward. She was apparently more fortunate than the person who bumped into her, who fell back onto the ground. Vespera turned around right into an apology.
"Sorry about that. Um, I'm a bit lost. Can you help me?"
Vespera blushed and put her hands together, interlocking her fingers as she bowed her head a little towards Lynn.
"No no! I was walking too slowly. You're lost, huh...?" she said, her face returning to normal as she stands up strait and moves her hands behind her back. "Well, I've been exploring the city for a few days now looking for a place to work, I might be able to help. Where are you trying to get to?"

Lynn just stood there a bit surprised to see that she bumped into another girl. For some reason, it didn't occur to her that other students would be wondering around the city as well. Especially another girl that looked to be around the same age as Lynn. She just assumed since it was starting to get dark that there wouldn't be any other students out and around. Well, she assumed that this blue haired girl was another student. All the teens that she has seen in Death City so far were students so why not this girl as well.
"Hey, don't sweat it," Lynn said, now more calm and relaxed after realizing the girl she bumped into was no threat. "Yeah, I'm still pretty new here, so I don't know the city too well. Do you by any chance know where the student dorms are? And if so, can you take me there?" Lynn's hands were now down by her side. She then started to subconsciously tug on one of the feathers that hung from her dream catcher out of habit. This girl was not good at standing still and would occasionally tug on one of her pendants if she stood still too long.
The blue haired girl had mentioned looking for a job. That was something Lynn "tried" to do when she first got here. And by try, that means walk into a couple stores and then get rejected. Lynn knew rarely anyone would ever hire her, mostly because she hated taking orders from someone else. She also has very little experience in working and very little motivation to actually get a job.
"By the way, my name is Lynnette Clare, with two N's. And yes, the extra N does make a difference. But I prefer to be called Lynn." It seemed right for Lynn to introduce herself to the other girl. Isn't that what you do when you meet another person? And Lynn didn't see anything wrong with giving out her full name.

Vespera let out a barely audible sigh of relief when she saw that the girl wasn't upset over the collision. She let her hands rest at her side, easing up as she got to the part where Lynn said
"Do you by any chance know where the student dorms are? And if so, can you take me there?"
Vespera's head suddenly lowered again. It was a reminder of defeat. The primary reason she was looking for a job was so she could afford to get an apartment somewhere. Nothing against the other girls or the dorms themselves, but she liked her privacy and doesn't like to bother people with her music. She can't go to sleep without music, and she didn't like the idea that she might be keeping people up with the music bleeding out from her headphones into the room. No one's said anything yet, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
"Ugh... the dorms... Yeah, I'm heading back there myself. I'll lead the way." she said, slinking forward.
"By the way, my name is Lynnette Clare, with two N's. And yes, the extra N does make a difference. But I prefer to be called Lynn."
Vespera turned back around, extending her hand. She was very embarrassed that she didn't introduce herself.
"Oh! Sorry! I'm Vespera Velázquez. You can call me either Era or ViVi if you want. I'm a weapon, but I don't have a partner yet. How about you?"

Lynn tilted her head in confusion as Vespera lowered her head in what looked like shame or defeat. Was it something I said? she thought, confused at the girl's behavior. The meister then smiled when Vespera said she was heading there herself. Finally, someone that could guide her home. And just in time since it was almost time for dinner and, like always, the girl was hungry. Instead of shaking Vespera's hand, Lynn hooked her elbow with the taller girl's in a friendly fashion.
"Nice to meet you ViVi. Well let's get going before it gets too dark," Lynn said starting to move in the direction the blue haired girl was heading earlier. "That's a coincidence! I'm a meister looking for a weapon," Lynn's voice was cheerful and her face clearly showed she was excited. She had been looking for a weapon and this could be her chance to snag a partner. "What type of weapon are you?" Curiosity was clear in her voice. Being blind in one eye she had terrible depth perception and accuracy. That limited her to only close range type weapons.
"So, you were looking for a job. How's that going?" Lynn said trying to instigate a conversation. She didn't know how far away the dorms were so she might as well have a conversation with her new acquaintance and potential partner. Lynn was tugging a bit on ViVi's arm, but she clearly gave way for Vespera to take the lead and show the way since the brunette had no idea where she was going.

Out of the two nicknames she gets, she preferred ViVi, so she was happy and smiling about being called that. She then continued to head back towards the Dorms, accepting the arm lock. Then she was surprised to hear the next thing that Lynn said.
"That's a coincidence! I'm a meister looking for a weapon," upon hearing this, Vespera's face lit up with excitement. "What type of weapon are you?" The excitement drained right back out of her face as she let out a heavy sign.
"I'm a Bo-Staff. I really want a Meister but I've got to be the most inefficient kind of weapon a Meister can have."

Lynn was happy to see the other girl's face light up with excitement and glee. What she found strange was that the girl looked drained and maybe even disappointed. She was personally quite happy to find out this girl was a demon bo-staff. From the couple of years that she has taken martial arts, Lynn remembers seeing how the higher belts did forms with bo-staffs. They were fast and powerful as well as simply beautiful. Why would Vespera think she was a useless weapon? That puzzled the young meister.
"Well as my partner, we need to work on that confidence of yours," Lynn said with a small smile and then switching to her serious mode. "A bo-staff is a very efficient and deadly weapon. It's perfect for both speed and power. And I've played enough video games to know that with a blunt weapon, while it may be difficult, can with enough hits kill your opponent. Or at least knock them out cold," Lynn said, clearly deciding on her own that she and Vespera will team up.
"One day we will be a force to be reckoned with. Not only kishen eggs, but witches will quake at the sound of our names. But that will never happen if you don't believe and trust your abilities as a weapon," Lynn then paused and took a deep breath to calm down after getting all worked up. Vespera hadn't even agreed to be her weapon yet and Lynn still got all worked up on them teaming up together. After another breath Lynn composed herself and turned to the blue haired girl.
"Sorry, I guess I got a little carried away. So, how about it? Do you want to be my weapon?"

Vespera was shocked, her eyes widened and her mouth hung open slightly as Lynn explained not only that a bo-staff could be an effective weapon, but speaking of their potential together as a team, followed by the formal invitation to be her weapon. Vespera teared up a little, she was so happy to not only find a new friend, but also her meister. Overcome with emotion at this turn of events, she instinctively hugged Lynn tightly. Realizing that might be a bit much, she let go quickly.
"Sorry! I got carried away too. I'll happily be your weapon!"

Lynn was at first taken by surprise by the hug. Before she could hug back, the taller girl pulled away and apologized. Lynn then laughed, in a friendly and light manner, as she shook her head. "Great! And don't sweat it," Lynn said and then hugged her new partner. "And if your gonna hug someone, actually let them hug you back before you pull away. Unless they are kicking and screaming for you to let go, then you can let go," Lynn said and then let go of Vesper.
The shorter girl then continued to walk in the direction they were going earlier as she gave way for ViVi to take the lead once again. "Hey, do you want to have dinner together? It will be a good way for us to get to know each other better. Plus, I'm starving and out of food," Lynn said as her stomach gave a growl as if to reassure that the young meister was indeed hungry. The truth was that Lynn was suppose to go grocery shopping today and, once again, forgot by the time she got deeper into town. And it didn't sound like a bad idea to get to know her partner better. That could also lead to trusting each other more in battle when they start to go on missions.

Vespera nodded as both an apology and an acknowledgement for proper hug etiquette as they proceeded forward. Then the idea of grabbing dinner came up. She smiled and nodded.
"Sure, that sounds like a good idea. Let's try and find someplace close to the dorms, though. Of course, that depends on what you want to eat. I'm OK with just about anything. And... uh..."
Vespera reached into her right pocket and pulled out a small wad of money.
"Preferably something cheap." she said, letting out a nervous giggle.

"It's ok, I have some money," Lynn said as she reached into her pocket for her wallet. She originally planning to go shopping so it made sense that she still had her food shopping money in her wallet. "But someplace not too pricy would be good," she said knowing that, even so, she didn't have too much money. At least not enough to buy dinner for both of them at someplace too fancy and expensive.
"And I think it would be best if you chose where we eat. You probably know this place better than I do since you've been wondering around and looking for a job, right? So you probably know what places are good and not too expensive," Lynn said and then turned to give Vespera a smile as she added, "Plus this would be a good way to work on that confidence of yours.
She then continued to walk and talk. "Also I'm good with anything. You will soon learn, despite my size, that I will eat anything and everything," she said with a small laugh. It seemed better now than later to tell her new partner about her large apatite.

Uh oh. Vespera hated taking charge of anything. Leading her new Meister back to the dorms was one thing, but picking out a place to eat...? But then Lynn added it would be a way to build confidence, and Vespera was certainly lacking that, so she decided to smile back.
"All right, then... hmm..." she said, bringing a finger up to her lips.
"Also I'm good with anything. You will soon learn, despite my size, that I will eat anything and everything."
And with that an idea hit her. She let down her hand from her mouth and turned to Lynn.
"Then I believe a buffet would be an idea. Large ones with different kinds of food usually cost a bit, though... Hey, I remember seeing a pizza place near the dorms, it's an all-day buffet and it's cheap. How does that sound?"

"Perfect!" Lynn said clapping her hands together. "Now lead the way ViVi!" she said once again hooking elbows with her partner. This was perfect, she could eat all she wanted, not worry too much about money, and get to know her new weapon. And just the sound of food put Lynn in a cheerful mood. The meister walked with bursting energy in each step, wanting to get to the buffet as fast as possible.
She was also glad to see Vespera taking charge. Sure they have know each other for about, what ten or twenty minutes? Still Lynn felt good about this girl and a friendship could grow. Sure they had their differences, but Lynn remembered something about being different helps a team be stronger or something like that. Well maybe that means these two will be a strong team like Lynn said earlier.

"All right then!"
Vespera started leading Lynn towards the part of town the dorms were located in. For the first time since she got here, things were starting to look up. She still needed to find a job, but maybe since she has a meister now they can be re-arranged in the dorms to share a room and that won't be as much of an issue. Still, finding her own place was at the top of her priority list now that she has a meister.
After a good stroll through town and a few turns, they arrived at a fairly normal-sized building with a canopy sign reading "DeDe's Pizza." The windows have stickers in them reading "Cheapest buffet in Death City!" and another one reading "Discount for Shibusen Students!" A look inside showed the counter up front, the buffet stretching back into the restaurant with about 15 different pizzas on display with a salad bar on the end, and tables all over the rest of the floor. The place seems to be about half full.
"Well, here we are!"

Lynn just stood there, staring in awe at the stretched out buffet. It took her a few minutes to realize that she in fact had to walk inside to eat the food and not just stare out the window like an idiot. Lynn then marched right in and then the meister was off before she was even showed to where her table is or asked what to drink. The waitress at the counter barely even had a chance to hear Lynn mutter a table for two.
The young meister was surprised she hasn't found this place earlier since it was so close to the dorms. For the past week she was here, Lynn ate nothing but instant ramen and Chinese take-out. So seeing a pizza buffet was magical for her. Ok, maybe that's a bit of an over exaggeration, but the girl loved food and variety in her meals. So this was a big deal to her. She made a mental note to find a way to thank Vespera for showing her this place. Maybe Lynn might even try to find a job so they could afford an apartment to live in together. Lynn could tell from ViVi's reaction to the sound of the dorms that the blue haired girl did not like living in them. Maybe that's how Lynn would repay her. Of course it would be hard for Lynn to find a job since not many people like to hire people like her. She might have a better chance in trying to help Vespera get a job than get one herself.
Lynn then raided the buffet bar and took as many different pizza slices as she could fit on her plate. Just for health purposes she took a small pile of salad on the corner of her plate and made a mental note to get some more later if she remembered when she would go up for seconds. The brunette then sat down at the table the waitress meant to show them to and started to eat as she waited for Vespera. Lynn wasn't the most feminine eater, but she wasn't a slob as well. She was just Lynn.
