Just posting up a quick 'newcomer's guide' as suggested by BreakHakkaiStein on the cbox, and Rocton.- - - - -
So you've decided to join Shades of Vertigo, huh?
Yeah!
WELL LET'S GET STARTED BIZATCH!~
YEAH!
WAIT!
What?
O1. The navigation bar is your best friend, embrace this shortcut. All of the relevant information that new members need to get an idea of what they can or can't do with characters is located in this left side table. RULES is just a breakdown of simple forum policy. MEMBER RANKS details what types of characters you as a new member to the forum are allowed to make. The CHARACTER PROFILE FORM itself has information about each section, and the code for the empty form is at the bottom of the post.
O2. To find actual thread for the rules and the site plot, click on the INFO tab on the top of the forum. Among other things, you'll find the subforums for RULES AND GUIDELINES and the STORY THUS FAR.
O3. To go on to actually start making your own character, click on the CHARACTERS category. You will then find the the CHARACTER MANAGEMENT subforum, which contains various threads with helpful information. If you're stuck on deciding between making a meister or a demon weapon, the Available Partners List (which is also in a tab on the Cbox) of active, unpaired meister and demon weapon characters may be of use to you in that decision.
---------------------------------
If when making your character you decide that you want to have "standard" abilities that we've seen characters in-universe use, head on over to the CHARACTER EMPORIUM subforum of the CHARACTERS tab. Within it, you will see the Purchasing Guide, Price List, and Examples, complete with PREMADE ABILITY TEMPLATES. Those who are creating Meister and Demon Weapon characters, please make sure to follow the Slot System format for your abilities.
----------------------------------
O4. To post your profile, simply go to the CHARACTERS tab, then the CHARACTER MANAGEMENT subforum, wherein you will find the various character profile threads. SUBMIT A CHARACTER is where you post your finished profiles for the staff to look over. If you wish, you can also work on your profile in ROUGH DRAFTS first and repost in Submit a Character when you are done.
O5. I've been accepted, now what do I do? Who do I RP with?
The IC areas are as follows: DEATH CITY, WORLD, LOCATIONS, and DISTANT PAST.
There's been set up an updated list of open threads that are in need of participants.
While it is not required, it is highly recommended that you put up your own plotting page on this board, if not to find people to thread with but just to keep track of your threads. This site goes by fluid time, meaning you can post in multiple places with your character at the same time if you have a clear chronological sequence for what threads happen when. By extension this means that you can have a thread that’s supposed to take place before an already existing thread, and this would be fine.
O6. If you're looking for a partner for your weapon/meister, don't worry! we have a listing of available peeps here.
No admin or mod permission is ever needed to pair up with someone; we’re pretty sure that that’s something that can be handled by the members themselves. If you so wish, an introductory thread is not even required. Some teams chose to run a mission as the very first thread that their characters will interact in, and that’s perfectly fine. Once you have formed a team, please post with the names of the characters in the team so you can be added to our TEAM ROSTER.
O7. In the meantime?
Not satisfied yet? Don't worry, we have a smorgasbord of missions, events and writing challenges to occupy your time. These result in extra points for your character, as well as those coveted kishin egg souls.
If you (and your partner, if applicable) are comfortable with deciding the course of the mission by yourself, it is highly recommended to hit the ground running with [url=http://shadesofvertigo.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=missionboard&action=display&threa[/url] rather than wait around and hope for an open Mission and Mission Coordinator. Please keep in mind that SRMs are going to be graded upon completion, and that this is not a free pass to let plot coherence and logic go flying out the window. Alternatively, if you feel more comfortable having someone else be the Mission Coordinator, this is the mission request form.

Oh, and there's always the
HEAVEN SHATTERING UNIVERSE COLLAPSING SUPER DUPER MASSIVE YES JAMES BOND IS VERY SUAVE BUT THAT'S NOT RELATED TO THE SHEER LENGTH OF THIS CHARACTER PROFILE FORM OF DOOM
for you to fill out. Just...spend an eternity filling it out. It's worth the 300 points though. And of course, if you don't want to spend the rest of your life crying at the sheer length of the character form, then there's always the good ol' cbox.[/blockquote]

The Shades of Vertigo newcomer's guide was filmed in front of a live audience. Unfortunately seven sharks and a narwhal were harmed in the making of this production. Please do not repeat anything you have seen in this programme; all stunts were performed by trained professionals.
