There was undeniable terror flooding through his veins as he heard the metal boom as the beast landed on top of the statue. He wasnt going to look up, in fact, he wasnt going to move from the statue, still leaned against it for support. In the dark of his closed eyes he whispered to himself, even he wasnt sure what it was he was saying exactly, but it seemed the only thing to do that would calm him down. A frown creased his forehead. Theres a strange pulsing in my throat is it is that important?. He dwelled on that thought, the feeling was so recognizable, yet in the haze of this event, there was no way he could order his thoughts.

When the statue fell foreword it was only by blind luck did Gerrard manage to roll out of the way in time. It was already halfway down its fall when he noticed and went wide-eyed for a moment, before actually reacting and rolling off to one side.
The reaction had not been quick enough, however, and he snagged himself on a sharp jut that might have been a hoof. It sliced through his clothes and deep into his shoulder -perhaps one or two inches deep. Directly after the cut he felt a huge heave in his shoulder as blood burst onto the statue. He didnt have time to cry out, so he bit down on his tongue and tried to somehow will the blood back into his body, his legs and arms shaking with the pain, his back was sodden with it already. He could taste it rising in his mouth, his tongue sore.

Davian prepared for the creatures attack, and before Gerrard could even think, his fellow professor was hurled into the air, although he used the force as an advantage. The sneaky bastard. A sniper position was one with deep attachments with Gerrards own past, so his breath hitched for a fraction of a second.

The air filled with the resonance of three gunshots. Even the thunderous noises of this fight could not move him, he did not even flinch. What was going on was a debate inside his head. He could either fight alongside Davian, perhaps a death sentence by bleeding out, or stay still and maybe get mauled by a very angry lion dragon. There didnt seem to be an option. But he could run away. Attempt to get far enough away from these fights -look like a coward- and try to pad the gaping wound in his shoulder. Then his mind went back to normal for a revelation.
He was bleeding heavily. This was a lion, part dragon, yes, but still a lion. Blood meant injured prey. He was probably the prime target now, and that sent him into a panic.

As Davian fired, Gerrard rushed forward, finding the strength through the pain to lift up Murmur, intending to strike down into the beasts neck.

This thread is now marked Critical. Participants will be expected to post within 10 days of the last update posted by the thread's presiding Quest Master (me!) 'lest they be skipped over in the post order. Participants currently engaged in combat during this will find themselves penalized by a free hit from enemies. Failure to post after 15 days will result in a debilitating free hit, and on the 20th day the player's character will be rendered unconscious and unable to fight. Mission completion rewards will, in turn, be enhanced to reflect the new thread status.

"..[Fzzzt]..ammit, Frank, tell me you got that goddamn thing running again!"

Ms. Nash yelled at her cameraman, looking around with a somewhat panicked expression on her face. A helicopter had just gone down, and things were blowing up like she was stood on the edge of a warzone. People were running, terrified even though the explosions couldn't be farther away from them than they were right now, being still positioned at the entrance.. although the smoke rising from the parking lot did send a swell of dread up her own throat at the possibility of any means of getting away from this place being blocked by whatever monstrosities the civilian reports were piecing together.

In the meantime, though, she'd keep reporting.. provided her cameraman could fix the machine after that bizarre pulse that just screwed with everyone's machinery..

"..Screw it! We'll try [Fzzzt]..nyway! Hello, if anyone is still able to get this, I am Eliza Nash, live outside of the Grand Nevada Zoo where the academic organization known as Shibusen is continuing to refuse cooperation between local law enforcement, instead allowing students to be placed in harm's way. The question on everyone's minds is the same: Is Shibusen qualified to make such decisio-- oh, christ, what is it now?"

No sooner had the reporter begun her dialogue anew than a horrendous sound ripped through the air, coming from the farthest reaches of the zoo from where she currently stood. It was a horrific, shrieking roar full of pain and rage, one that, once again, even though not sensative enough to be able to detect a soul's presence would be able to pick up on and sense in their gut as an oppressive force. Remembering what that sensation had brought before, many of the surviving civilians began to weep and tremble in fear of some uncertain and unknown horror that would seemingly leap out at them at any given moment like it had just a short while ago..

..this sensation would not be lost on the Shibusen representatives within the zoo either, as that pressure in the air would only feel heightened by their close proximity.

High Alert
(Current Theme All)

Bird Exhibit

With choked squawking sounds the birds suddenly ceased all movement.. their wings beginning to flap just ever so slightly more slowly than before as the Weapon and her Meister would be able to see an almost spasming kind of response from the remainder of their feathered and scaled foes.

And then, the pressure would only seem to heighten. Feeling like the very atmosphere itself had turned to a crackling, degraded snapping and grainy one, almost like the poor reception of an outdated TV that used an antenna. The abominations posing as parrots suddenly spasmed no more, as instead their abdomens tore up and split apart like they'd just been ripped in half at the chest, revealing some morbidly corroded and degraded animal souls, tinged with a glow of morose green. Even as their souls were torn from them, the bodies of the parrots dissipated into ash, and then into nothingness, as the green energy began to seep from the soul until gone entirely.. flitting across the air and in the direction of that ominous presence, leaving behind the purified souls of parrots, which then shattered like glass.

African Savannah

The giraffe gargled viciouslyl as it was struck in the eye; the soft organ bursting as juices poured from its injury. However, before the pair could step back from any potential retaliation, that same oppressive air that had crushed the parrots caused the giraffe monstrosity's body to convulse and burst alight with a green aura, before that light leapt from the beast's head, smashing straight into the female Meister and rendering her unconscious. Passing through her body and out the other side, the energy would then fly off in the direction of the oppressive force.

Weakened, but not slain, the beast stumbled and ambled to the side, attempting to regain its balance when there was none to be had anymore. It let out a weak, gargling whine before crashing against a tree in an attempt to steady its body, before letting out a blood curdling howl of savage pain and fury.. for now, at least, it seemed to be distracted by its attempt at recouperating.

Playground (Near Snackbar)

Before the blue-haired Weapon could approach any further, the poodle burst into green wisps of that same mist as its kin had begun to flare up into. Like the parrots, it too had been too weak to hold together its form under the immense pressure being expulsed from that terrible source from whence this entire situation had arisen. And like the female Meister who had suffered the close proximity, the students surrounding the poodle faced the backlash of this explosive force; in particular the two Weapons, the white-haired one, and the trident would find themselves blasted with the green wisping energies.

The trident Weapon would immediately burst out of its combat form, and like the girl fighting the giraffe would be rendered unconscious as the green force leapt out of his body and began to charter its course the same as the others. The dragonslayer Weapon, however, would not.. as the wisps of green would swirl around the white-haired youth and be subsumed into his body..

Playground (Near Giraffe Statue)

Upon being shot in a critical place, the lion beast roared but ceased abruptly.. his vicious eruption of sonic force disturbed and ceased prematurely by the three bullets lodged in the roof of its mouth and the back of its throat.. fountains of blood pouring forth and onto the grass as the creature lurched and tensed.. green erupted, and like the giraffe the lion was also left weak and unable to hold its stance immediately. The sword-wielding teacher's blade would launch into the fiendish lion's neck at that, drawing blood and a sore groan of pain from the creature.

However, unlike the giraffe, the king of beasts did not falter for long, as even though weakened, it shook its mane and roared anew, despite the blood spurting from its maw even as it did so. Its body twisted and it swept its paw out towards the sword-wielding teacher, attempting to tear away at the nearest offender with the vicious streak of a beast injured and fighting all the more desperately for its own survival than before.

The Snackbar

..All was peaceful, contrarily so, at the snackbar.. where the remainder of the students would find themselves temporarily safe due to the passing of the black rhino. Mere distant snorts, followed by the occasional explosion and groan of metal as a car was bent or rolled over would be the only signs of the beast's presence.. The furnace Weapon, at least, still giving chase would be able to see how the great tank of a creature had seemingly slowed its pace for a moment.. the green wisps arising from its body and at least sapping the seemingly unstoppable brute's rampage.. at least until it shook its head.. groaning and turning slowly, steadily.. until it was facing the furnace head on.. and by proxy the direction of the now demolished snackbar.. and then stomped its feet in preparation of another charge.

Grand Nevada Zoo Entrance

Eliza was getting more than a little put off by the roars, the explosions and the constant disruptions to her reporting.. as she looked into the camera with a rueful expression of severity, "..there is still no word from the inside of the zoo! Although the sounds of what can only be assumed to be the monsters which were reported by survivors and explosions are all the proof that we have of this matter being unresolved, Shibusen officials continue to report that they have the matter under contro--"

HONK!

Big Damn Heroes
(ROW ROW)

"--okay, what the hell is that?"

In that very instance a big red hummer.. larger than average, for that matter.. so large it could carry a pretty big crowd of people if enough squeezed into it.. came crashing through the desert sands and onto the main road, screeching tires against asphalt as the behemoth of a vehicle tore up towards the zoo's entrance before pulling to a halt just a few feet away from the crowd.. a window rolling down as the driver called out, "Calm down, folks, the backup's here..!"

A ray of hope in the continuing struggle. However, even as things began to look like they might take a turn for the better, the force at the zoo had begun to grow anew. The energies taken from the monsters it had spawned enhanced its power, strengthened it.. as the air would fill with dread the closest to the source. The egg was hatching.

Vespera was swelling with pride that her partner had landed a solid hit. She didn't quite like what little feeling she was getting through her weapon form of this creature's... blood? That might be the right term for it. It seemed like there was blood, but that wasn't all. It might not be the best thing to dwell on at the moment, but Vespera couldn't help but wonder if this would remain on her after transforming back.

"Great shot, Lynn!"

"Hey, it's a team effort, Vivi! You holding up all right?"

Before she could answer, Lynn was struck down by a piercing shot of green energy. Lynn started to fall backwards as the energy finished passing through her body, causing Vespera to immediately change out of weapon form and catch her Meister in her arms. Vespera shook Lynn violently, but Lynn remained unresponsive, her limp body laying back in Vespera's arms.

"LYNN! Wake up!" she yelled, still attempting to get Lynn to come around. She turned back the creature and saw it attempting to get back up, and Vespera's eyes filled with an expression of pure terror.

"Oh god... what do I do...?! I can't beat this thing on my own! We've gotta run!" she thought. She looked back at Lynn, whose eyes were still shut and not showing the slightest sign of activity. "Please... please wake up...! We've gotta run before this thing gets up!" Vespera was starting to panic. Tears began to fill her eyes at this point. Did her Meister just die in a flash of light...? No, that can't be! She needed a sign that Lynn was still alive, anything! She felt around Lynn's wrist and her mouth quivered as she didn't feel a pulse. But only at first. A slight look of relief and a greater look of shock came where a beat did come through.

"You can't leave me like this... I'm not letting this thing get us..." she said quietly, picking up Lynn as she started to run north along the path. It was killing her, having to run away like this, but at this point her Meister's life was more important than winning a fight.

"Someone! HELP!" she screamed as she ran, not looking behind her. She was trying her best to find her way back to the entrance, taking her past the giraffe statue. She saw two of her teachers, and wanted to head towards them, but she saw they clearly had their hands full. She wanted to keep heading towards the Reptile Exhibit, but carrying Lynn was starting to slow her down. It was nothing short of amazing she ran this far carrying her incapacitated Meister since she wasn't conditioned for this like Lynn was.

She slowly came to a halt near the Volunteer Garden, and gently laid Lynn down on the ground on her back. It wasn't just her legs giving out that was stopping her, she was overcome with grief. She fell to her knees and simply froze.

"What have I done...? How could I have let this happen...?" she muttered. She was starting to lose her sense of awareness, not paying attention to what was going on around her.

"I'm here, Lord Death."

Sid came rushing at Grim Reaper's "Death Room" with a visage knowing what is to be expected. With the situation at hand and knowing there are already a number of students and teachers sent as what was supposed to be a field trip, there was no doubt they could deal with it. Yet, there was this foreboding the zombie couldn't help, but experience through his joints (which was supposed to be stiffened in death).

He watched the back of the God of Death, no doubt staring at the situation through his mirror. The zombie could already see a bit of the action from behind, just a little bit.

"So you have arrived, Sid," the cloaked being finally greeted while turning around with his face still concealed behind the childish skull of a mask. Though he could tell there was a tinge of seriousness in the tone despite the silly voice.

"Yes, sir. About the Zoo--"

"Yes?"

Sid blinked as he was cut off from just a single word. It easily created an awkward situation for the zombie as the black attired being stared at him with dark sockets. But nevertheless...

He continued, "Would you deem it necessary to send reinforcements, sir?"

"Hmm..."

He crossed his arms and cocked one head to the side in thought.

"...Perhaps. Yes. If my memory serves me..."

It would be a moment as the zombie kept staring at the pondering god. A dark shadow seemed to pass the skull mask in foreboding, "They will indeed need assistance. Go. Form a platoon and back them up, Sid,"

Nodding, already recovering from the awkward air with a face of duty, "Understood, sir."

______________________

"We're almost their, kids," Sid stated with both hands on the driving wheel, manipulating the path of the Hummer.

Seeing that they have arrived, he honked on the horn.

HONK!

He almost grinned watching the reporters jump in surprise at his sudden noise of arrival. Soon screeching a halt, he pulled down the window to give some words of encouragement, "Calm down, folks, the backup's here..!"

Looking back at his passengers, "We're here, get off."

Opening the door, he exited and saw/heard the students follow suit.

"Alright, line up!" the zombie called out at the teenagers, already suited up for combat.

"Spread out in groups of three or two and see who you can help down there. Or find in this matter. Just don't get hurt. Move out!"

Ishida Sai never imagined he'd be sent to something... Much bigger so soon in his short time at Shibusen. Perhaps, he should've seen this coming since he glanced at the newsflash on the T.V. at the cafeteria. Whatever those horrendous noises were from, thank God he wasn't going to deal with it.

Until now.

As fate would have it, he was handpicked like the others to be deployed as reinforcements. He couldn't help, but admit fear was slowly crawling his spine. It would be fine if the enemies were at least a bit humanoid. But... Judging by the situation itself... One could deduce they are hardly human anyway. It was for that matter, he decided to forego the shinobi outfit and keep the chain mail on. If only it was night out here. Then again, their higher senses would make his advantage of Soul Perception into a disadvantage...

Then, there was Rick. The meister remembered his recent-made friend/comrade was sent too the zoo as an enjoyable and fun field trip... So much for that. Remembering how rash the autonomous weapon is... It gave him a reason, besides the official one, to be there.

Arriving and lining up in single-file so soon, he stood there between shoulders of his fellow peers. The apprehension was still getting worse as he heard the inhuman howls and screams within the facility. As a result, his fists clenched together tightly.

After some orders from the Sid, himself, he looked around team members to group up. Ignoring the army of reporters trying to get their input in the situation, he tried to see if there's anyone competent around...

OOC: Short, I apologize... = =;; Anyways, group up guys!

I'M ALIVE, I'M ALIVE
WHEN YOU'RE DEAD INSIDE
~Shinedown

There was a few reasons Magus had been shoved into the back of Shibusens' back-up-truck. Boredom was one. He also couldn't afford to leave out the slightest hint of a lead towards his Target. Magus had long since learnt to take every and any opportunity that becomes available. There was also another reason. A reason he hesitated with. He wouldn't even confirm it himself as a reason. It wasn't like him to make such a decision.

He could feel the bad air swirl outside from a few miles out. It was then he started to understand severity of the situation. The whole vehicle was quiet, aside from the rumble of the car as it drove towards their destination. There was a certain degree of tension, both because of the nature of the situation they were about to be thrown into, and the fact the some student operatives that an joined were sat in the presence of both a long-term Teacher, and a huge tank of a man, with scorching ruby eyes and pointed elven ears. The two men were intimidating on their own as it were, even when sat at the front of the car.

Still, Magus sat it a contemplative state. His Scythe was ready at command, and he'd take Deaths place on the field of battle with it in his hands.

The Hidden Mage moved out of the Vehicle as soon as the thing came to a halt, and had his Scythe appear in sapphire flames just a quickly. His objective was clear; he moved with a pace towards the Zoo, without waiting for either Sids' word, or otherwise. Obviously Magus wasn't too concerned about any stick he'd get, he just knew that he had time to kill. It wasn't even clear if the teens who'd come along would be willing to follow such a man, his presence was so strangely overbearing. Chances were, even the press would keep their distance. He looked like man almost too willing to use that weapon.

This place was huge, and Magus wasn't one for help, so a map wasn't even glanced at. He'd just follow the noise. Where there was noise, there were bad things. Where there was Magus, there was trouble. Where there were both, there'd be a monstrous disaster.

Even now she could feel the strain in their connection; it was wiser move to call her back now before anything bad happened. Hopefully Theron could wield her properly with that shard-like feather through his hand. She wouldn't shake that awful, stomach churning feeling she got know that he was taking all the damage, and she hadn't got a scratch. It almost made her angry, that she couldn't stop it, or heal it. But she couldn't afford to feel like that right now. She could sulk when this was over, but right now there was a battle at hand.

The Chakram flew straight and true back to the grip of her Meister, before the Resonance was broken and the power surge vanished. That lack of power felt sluggish on her, she only hoped Theron didn't feel it, hoped it didn't mean they were weak. They trained together so often they couldn't possibly be as weak as she felt they were right now. Perhaps it was just the waning power that made it feel like the tide was pulling at her entire body.

"If this wears you down so much, tell me. You don't have to work yourself to your limit so much; you'll burn out, then where will we be?" Nova almost tried to make a joke out of it, but she meant it. Theron had to be careful with that Resonance, but the stubborn boy would keep going until he passed out if you let him. "Next Resonance will be mine to handle."

The mutated Parrots seemed to vanish in shards when a force pushed back around the Zoo. What was going on? What ever it was, it couldn't be good. There were other things to get done, and they hadn't seen anything but the birds; they didn't even know how many other things were out. "I think the big boss it getting ready to show itself...better get a move on."

The young Romanian finally allowed himself to breathe a bit easier as he watched those cursed birds dissolve into ash. As macabre as the scene of their demise was, what with souls shattering and some kind of... essence being pulled off of them, and even with the odd sense of tense, erratic energy in the air, Theron's relief was hardly lessened. He caught Nova in one hand with practiced ease, her Resonance form fading away in ribbons of light as the chakram reverted to normal. Gritting his teeth, he reached a gloved hand up to yank a bladed feather out where it had sunk in just below his neck, tossing the bloodied token away before doing the same with all the others that were jutting out of his fencing suit.

"If this wears you down so much, tell me. You don't have to work yourself to your limit so much; you'll burn out, then where will we be? Next Resonance will be mine to handle."

He let his mind wander to that thought for a second -- future Soul Resonances, new techniques and abilities they could develop as a team. If nothing else, this entire unexpected fight was proof enough of how much they still needed to grow; Goddess Blade was powerful and had certainly worked well enough, but Nova had a point. For the amount of effort it took, and the injuries he'd incurred in the process, it was clear that they could still get stronger, still improve.

"I think the big boss it getting ready to show itself...better get a move on."

"... Right. Let me just patch myself up real quick."

Shifting the Demon Chakram over to his injured hand, Theron began tearing long strips of fabric off of his battle-shredded hoodie. One was folded up and placed over the near-miss on his neck with a second strip tied across his chest to keep it in place; another was wrapped tightly around his bleeding wrist. The makeshift bandages were done swiftly, with the practiced ease of someone who'd done this many, many times before; the young d'Metreon was no stranger to picking himself up after a fight.

"Right, let's go." Theron took a deep breath before taking off at a jogging pace towards the Snackbar, where the sound of demolition and trouble seemed to be the closest.

------------------------------------

What greeted them a few minutes later was a glimpse at the backside of a tank -- or at least, the nature-born and supernaturally twisted equivalent. The rhino beast had clearly been wreaking a path of destruction but was now backtracking, turning to face the snack bar... and a certain Danish blonde.

Theron's mind went into overdrive at what he saw, picking the scene apart strategically. The rhino looked like a tough target, tougher still to stop or slow down. If they let it charge then anything in its path would be flattened... and a glance towards the snack bar -- or what was left of it -- suggested there might still be people taking shelter inside. Whether or not, though, one thing was absolutely certain about this new fight.

They could not let that Rhino charge.

"We'll keep it occupied!" Theron shouted over to Niels, making a dash for the enemy creature. With a quick snap of his wrist the Meister caused Nova's chakram form to split in half, catching the freed half-circle blade with his other hand. He had a plan... an idea, at least. He wasn't quite sure how much damage they could do to this thing, but he knew a way to up the odds in their favor.

Only Nova would notice the slight shift in Theron's soul, his wavelength seeming to weaken... and the soul itself begin to reshape.

That green energy... what was that??!

Davian's curiosity was interrupted as the enemy monster took a retaliatory swing at Gerrard. The fight was still on, and if anything this lion-thing seemed angrier than before. Bleeding profusely, sure, but still very much a threat.

"Oh no you don't!" The eccentric professor shouted, lifting his left hand off the gun and about six inches into the air. Sparks of electricity flashed around his hand suddenly before he slammed it down, open palm, onto the ground.

This was his special variation of the Soul Purge -- Ground Surge, as he called it, would deliver a nasty shock to the feral beast. He was lucky that his tuck-roll-and-flatten maneuver earlier had kept him from being tossed too far back, otherwise he might've been out of range... but as it was, the lion was about to be on the receiving end of a burst of soul-born electricity roughly on par with a tazer. With any luck, the jolt would cause the beast's body to seize up or, at least, slow down its attack, giving Gerrard the opening he'd need to finish it off.

For a guy who was essentially a walking, running, talking, stalking furnace, Niels was making fairly good running with the huge Rhino-Bulldozer, that ever familiar, almost ever present, blush on his face like one akin to the fire he would spit. Not that Niels ever really took notice on how bad he was doing, though not quite anywhere near passing-out level just yet, but the desert heat wasn't doing to well for him.

This Danish Noble took a stance when the huge tank of an animal stopped, and turned back towards him. The ever-fearless Niels lowered himself, a drew Stryk to his side, ready to attempt a slash at the beasts weakened hide after the energy wash shuddered every being in this Zoo. Niels' thoughts drifted to that of the dreamer Professor; he only hoped that his senior was doing ok, and quickly ran though day dreams of the 'Heroic Rescue' kind that would leave the man astounded and irrationally in love with him. Niels, however, took this seriously. He had to help aid the defeat of this beast before him, or the Professor Davian would never notice his excellence!

It was just then, that another boy showed up; not someone Niels recognised off the bat, but, after shouting something, began to run, kamikaze in all sense, towards the hulking mutant. Not that Niels had any ground to snide him for such a shamble plan, hadn't Niels already jumped into it's path the score a missing goal. But no! Niels could not stand for this! The ponce, who carried an air of self-righteousness, would not get in his way!

ROCKET DRAGON
~Machinae Supremacy

Niels took the one risk he knew he'd be in danger if he made. The d'Metreon, with all his senses dulled and numbed, would find himself at no match with the 6 foot tall Prince, who sprinted in front of them, before he stopped, arms open before them, sword still in his hand. "You won't steal my light, fake prince!" Were the few last words he would say for a long time, before he summoned a bright white light to coat him. A strangely familiar white light, but different.

When the light flicked and left, Niels was adorned with a metal jaw, up over his nose, vented and hot. His eyes were ablaze, heat-waves flickered around his scorching body, like what you would find on a burning summers day on a black-topped road. Niels filled the back of his newly metal-plated throat in flames, as the vents opened and bellowed steam. There was a huge, mechanistic gasping sound as the foolish Dane drew back his head, facing the tank of an animal, and the steel gates of a hellish inferno opened...

...Bringing with it, a bright display of fire from the mech-like jaw of the student, heat pouring from him in huge sweltering waves. It was unsure if the flames would harm the animal built like steel, but Niels wouldn't let his show be overrun by a half-rate and his Chakram.

There was a triumphant moment when the sword strike was successfully, digging deep into the creatures tough neck. It gave Gerrard some relief, knowing it could be harmed, although its groan told him that if it could be killed, it would take more than a stab to the neck. The moments rush was gone and he was weak again, his legs shaking and his arms tired. Even his fingers were numb now. The handle of the blade was almost untouchable with his trembling hands, sore and hot from how tight he hand been holding onto the sword. He couldnt pull the sword back out he was so drained.

There was a moment, horrifying, when the lion thing had turned to retaliate. No kind of emotion had come up to him. Instead he couldnt even find the strength to move. Davian attacked as the beast swung. Too late? Gerrard didnt seem to care anymore. The blood loss scrabbled his thoughts and his common sense seemed to just ebb away.
He let his arms slack, leaving his futile attempt to remove the sword.

He was jolted back into reality as he took the full force of the lions hit. It sent him a few meters before crashing back into the ground, tumbling for a final few feet before his back collided with one of the many trees.
There was red around the corners of his vision. He struggled to push himself off of the ground - he didnt have the willpower to make himself move. It would have been pointless, now that he sword was hilt-deep into the neck of a monster.

He heard the distant honk of a vehicle, and thought nothing of it. Without a weapon, he couldnt fight. Without blood he couldnt think or move. He smirked and hoped Davian could handle this on his own.
Gerrard wasnt thinking straight, he couldnt remember his dreams, his past. Even the present was a blur. And because of that he was happy just to lie down and bleed away the final hour.

Rick continued to lunge towards the beast. The kill was in sight, and Rick was looking forward to his thumbs entering the poodle's eye sockets. It'd pay for hurting Ymir, wounding him, and for being a poodle. As Rick got closer to the beast, his grin gradually became wider, his murderous intent rearing its ugly end for all around him to see.

However, much to Rick's disappointment, the beast died before he could reach it. It had burnt up into green wisps. On that note, Rick frantically skidded to a halt. Two people were in the way of the wisps, Ymir and James. But instead of going around the two, the wisps would pass through them. James was forced out of his trident form, rendered unconscious by the wisps passing through his body before heading towards the source.

However, it was a different result for Ymir. Instead of rendering him unconscious, the wisps would instead circle his friend before being subsumed into his body. But before he would question Ymir or dwell on it, he'd turn back to James and Cin to see if she was okay. Thankfully, it didn't seem like Cin had been hit by the wisps. The bad news was that she was weaponless for the time.

The Demon Chair looked towards Ymir one last time, in order to make sure he wasn't seeing shit, or that Ymir wouldn't be passing out. Once Rick deemed Ymir to be okay, he ran up to Cin and James. "Shit. . .", muttered the Demon Chair as he checked on the unconscious trident. But before Rick could try to check on his friend, he could hear the loud honking of a vehicle. It seemed like reinforcements had arrived to save the day. But at this point, Rick didn't know whether to stay behind and help with James, or to look for another group who still needed help.

"Ymir, Cin, should we stay here and wait for the reinforcements to get their asses over here, or should we get the fuck out and see if there's anyone else who needs help?", he asked the two.

His very being felt like fire. Every fibre of his body like an invididual torch had been taken to each individual piece. His muscles tensed and his teeth were gritting violently, as his mess of hair almost stood up on ends while the green wisps circled and swarmed around him, slowly beginning to seep in under the surface and settling in. His eyes, usually mottled yellow, were lit a bright, luminous green that glowed like small lanterns. He felt that pulse he'd felt before.. something primal.. something natural and yet completely new that raced up and down his nerves and through his veins like wildfire, like the inner workings of a machine having each individual wire spark and flare with an excess voltage being run through it.

And a deep place within, where something slept and waited, was sought by the reaching arms of green mist. On the inside, in that space where only the soul resided, the green sought the orb of light out. It wrapped around it, trying to bury its tendrils inside, trying to devour it and make it its own. And the pulse came again. Like a heartbeat resounding through the soul itself, knocking aside the green at first. Then another pulse.. like a machine, slowly coming alive. Like a sleeping giant lumbering awake.. another pulse, and another. A green light growing out from the center of the sphere.. and like a small explosion, swept up the green, and then began to pull inward. The mist writhed and shot about, like a cornered creature trying to escape from a foe it had underestimated. But it was too close.. and the ball of glowing radiance swallowed it up, and devoured its energies.

He coughed.. a small fleck of green wisping energy wafting out from his lips like a smoker choking on his first drag. The glow in his eyes subsided and his body eventually relaxed.. or did it? He didn't feel relaxed.. he felt.. pumped. Energized. Eager. Bring it on.. Bring it on, bring it on, bring it on!!

He heard someone speaking.. was it Rick? His ears were ringing. Were they? It didn't feel like it. It felt more like.. he was hearing something else. Like a heartbeat not unlike his own, just different in some other way.. He didn't think, he turned on his heels and began to sprint to the south, towards the park area and the giraffe statue with an ecstatic grin on his face, as he quickly looked over his shoulder with an almost savage smirk, "What're you guys waitin' for?! Let's go, go, go!!"

The firearms meister let go of the trigger slowly as he saw the dust settle and the rhino continue. It would be useless to fire any longer at that thing now that it was that a far away. They had to think of their next move.

If the rhino continued on, not stopping and just running forever, this would be a nasty chase. It seemed to have some sort of augmented head since he just mowed through an entire snackbar without being so much as slightly bothered. Keeping up with it would be a major issue and attacking it while it was in that motion would be dangerous.

If the beast turned around and came back though, something would have to be done to slow it down. Maybe even use it as a mount. The shrieks and sounds of battle could be heard throughout the zoo and deprived of an M1 Abrams tank that might be very useful in such a situation, a heavily armored rhino that is related to industry level wrecking cranes might not be a bad alternative. Getting onto the rhino would be an issue though, from the previous attacks it seemed to have a hard exterior that would make getting on top of it to control it difficult.

"Ashley we need to figure out more about this thing, we need to figure out to get it to stop."

In his pensive thoughts, he was once again distracted long enough for people to show up and start going at it. One of them seemed to be spitting fire onto the rhino now, causing it to stop, but it didn't take a fool to notice it was simply fueling the rhinos rage. It was gonna burst soon and they needed this chance. Rocton looked down around the floor until he found a discarded tourist map, probably ditched by a fleeing visitor. He kicked it around until he could identify where he was and started to strategize.

"I think I got a plan. Think the rhino is thirty yet?"

Before he got his response, the meister ran as quickly as he could towards the fire spitter and started barking out orders.

"I don't know what we're fighting bro but help me get it to turn towards its right if you want stop it."

- Dont say that, youre just challenging the world to take a bigger dump on us. Besides, flying marshmallow with spikes looks beautiful compared to what we just saw. Damn, I wish I had a pet that looked that cute. The azure haired meister heard his weapon say. Slice its head off when she kicks it our way, She'd added. "We've got four fighters here; we're going to destroy this thing. Let's finish this quick and get ready for the real monster." This was probably why Rune could wield her; they were so goddamn compatible in the way they thought, it was just the perfect companion to have in the middle of a battlefield. And perhaps outside of it if the meister didn't tease her that much about her height, her million alarms to wake up in the morning, and all the things she kept in her room. But it wasn't the time to think about that, and it really wasn't the time to dwindle about what they could and couldn't do once they were out of this mess, no. They needed to think about the mess in general and how to get out of it alive and well with the least amount of casualt-- With -no- casualties.

Quite a bit of things had happened while Rune was caught in a lethargic stupor, perhaps due to himself pondering what to do whilst the meisters and weapons nearby fought against the 'poodle', if you could have even called it so. And though that wasn't the only thing that had ocurred in the several minutes - which felt like an entire lifetime to Rune -, it was the nearest, the easiest to notice. To recapitulate, Rune'd arrived near the playground after running south from the snack bar. He and Eva had run from the rhinocerous charging towards it, though it was now completely demolished. Another meister and his demon weapon had managed to escape the onslaught; Rocton and Ashley, the minigun. But the rhinocerous wouldn't stop at the snack bar; it'd continue onward, demolishing everything in its path, throwing and tearing cars apart as the explosions and the blasted searing metal merely grazing its skin without leaving a single dent.

Rune was forced to turn around in the wake of such thunderous sounds only to catch a glimpse of the beast behind the black smoke, gazing at it whilst it turned and assuming that the rhino would most likely come back for a round two. That is to say, the behemoth was going to keep charging until there was nothing left to destroy, or so Rune thought. A quick glance toward their surroundings allowed him to pick up on the figure of Theron, who appeared to be analyzing the situation, observing and pondering what to do before... charging towards the rhino? That's exactly what he and Eva had run from! The dadao-wielding meister just couldn't imagine anyone taking on that thing head-on, let alone stop it in its tracks.

Rune's attention, however, quickly snapped back to the scene unfolding behind him as the poodle literally exploded into wisps of a vibrant green. The meister and Eva were nowhere near the people surrounding the poodle, though even they could manage to feel a sudden wave of heat that eventually dissipated into the air. It didn't hold any of the concussive force near the blast zone, though it hinted to the power of these... things. And one of the demon weapons near the explosion felt its full force. "W-what the hell?" Rune muttered to himself, barely believing that one of the people he'd arrived to the zoo with, albeit splitting up from the main group later on, had just gotten... knocked out in a single hit. The sight of the girl meister's demon weapon getting struck, it filled Rune with sadness, sorrow, but even more than that...

Unbridled anger.

These beasts would stop at nothing, that much was clear. The poodle seemed mindless enough, and it looked like they only had a single command instilled into their mind: kill. Rune clenched his free hand into a fist whilst tightening his grip upon the handle of the dadao with his other hand. Eva would probably feel his spirit burning with the passion of a warrior, and the doubt that plagued his mind; did they really have a chance against such things? Could they really defeat these enemies, one of which had just knocked someone like her out as easily as that in the wake of their demise? Let's not count this was probably one of the smaller beasts running through the park, and if it'd exploded like that, what would happen to the rhino once it was defeated? These questions coursed through the azure haired meister, but he wouldn't relent.

"One is enough..." He spoke with a slightly broken voice, laced with the rage coursing through his mind. His tone began to pick up with each word that followed, giving the last few that distinctive pitch and feeling of a general winding his troops up. "It's time we damn jumped into this; it's time we stop running away! We're joining the others..." He shouted, snapping his gaze towards Rocton, Ashley, Niels, Theron, and Nova. Rune still hadn't noticed the reinforcements arriving; his mind was set on the rhino, and temporarily away from the wounded James, the possibly awestruck Cin, the concerned Rick, and the fiery mir, who appeared to have been unaffected with the wisps. He made out Rocton's words clearly as he ran towards the scene, glancing at the meister running towards the fire spitter.

"The rhinocerous' outer layer of armor... Yes. Yes! That's perfect!" Rune thought to himself. Evidently, the rhino's 'skin' was heated up - really heated up from the explosions of the cars and the furnace weapon's flames. It didn't take a genius to understand what Roc had in mind: water was the key. Cooling off an extremely hot piece of metal, rock, or practically most materials rendered it weaker, brittle. "How the hell did he not think of it earlier?" Rune muttered with a grin. "That's perfect, Rocton! Here, let me give you guys a hand!" He shouted as he approached the scene, brandishing Eva in front of him. Perhaps if Roc's plan succeeded, they would be able to pierce through the rhino's armor...
